Isn't it ironic that one of the leading euroskeptics who doesn't think that you or I should have access to the European Court of Justice has now won his ECJ case against the PM.

I guess everyone is entitled to justice, but some are more entitled than others!

To be fair, I believe he stepped down from the case when he was appointed to the cabinet.

But yes, there is a fun bit of irony there. And the skeptic in me would say there may be a link in why the woman wanting to increase the dragnet of citizen data against the advice of the EU is also wanting to leave the EU.

Is he anti the ECHR?

But I suppose that regardless of how you feel about a body of laws if they are there you have a right to the protection they afford just like everyone else until you get them repealed when no one will have their protection.

David Davis and his chums are busy making a right horlicks of Brexit. He quite right-wing and libertarian but on issues of civil liberty and privacy, there are few MPs better. Tom Watson apart, Davis has more commitment to civil liberties and privacy in his little finger than the whole of the Labour party.

I'd be very interested to hear his genuine off the record thoughs about the irony of today's result.
