Well with Trump as next US president and recent Brexit vote, France and Germany heading to the right in Europe these are changing times. Does this make you nervous for your or your children's future?

something the people who are all about brexit and getting a good trade deal with the US need to be aware of...

1) trump is going to be "america first"...

2) TTP (in europe) TTIP (in asia) and NAFTA are all dead... which means in effect that the US will have no deals with the EU, and their 2 closes neighbours, Mexico and Canada

thats going to be a lot of trade deals going to have to be done at once.....

They only take serious time when the EU is involved.

Anyone else can work them out quite quickly.

That's just what I was thinking.

Come on 40 odd percent voted for Hillary so it has to be re-run. Doesn't it?

Just been watching Martin Schulz on German TV. He is really not a happy bunny.

In a few short months his cosy little life has been turned on its head. Brexit, Trump, and Italy next.

Merry Christmas Herr Schulz (and Tusk and Junker)

Exactly, I expect a Uk/USA trade deal to be on the cards quite quickly once we are fully out of the shackles of the EU. So much for Obama saying we'd be at the back of the queue, LOL.

Trump doesn't want a trade deal with the EU, full stop (he said as much in his speeches).

As an interesting side note it was reported on sky news earlier that Nigel Farage and Aaron Banks are due to meet Trump on Saturday. Would love to listen in on that meeting and I wonder if the topic of trade will come up?

Interesting that Boris Johnson called Trump a "Revolting slug. ...who is, quite frankly, out of his mind...completely unsuitable for the job of President of the United States", only last year!

Awwwkwwaard. I'd keep him out of these fabled trade negotiations

Did you notice the recent EU - Canada trade deal took 6 years to happen , with the Uk on its own we will be able to do deals in a much reduced time as we do not have to consult a vast amount of other sovereign states as if we were in the EU.

You forget to mention the stupid ones.... over half of those without a high school diploma voted for Trump.... obviously because they're too thick to know any different. (Replace high school diploma with ALevels and you'll see the comparisons with the Brexit voters....).

Oh, wait a minute, 65 % of that lot voted for Obama.......

Rumour has it that Trump could offer Nigel the job of US ambassador to the EU.

Now that would put the cat among the pigeons.

"Does this make you nervous for your or your children's future"

This should inspire all children, this should show everyone that;

Against all odds, Donald Trump, took on the USA and realistically the whole world, persuaded the hard grafters & manual workers as well as others that he could make a change in American politics and he financed this with his own money

This shows what a person can do in achievement when the odds are against him

Well done Donald Trump

.

And for everyone on here who puts him down, sit and reflect, think to yourself - what have You done in life, what is your achievement!!!

yet you like to follow the sheep and criticise

.

think about it.

I think the EU Canada deal is more than enough evidence. One small region in Belgium can scupper the deal for 28 countries that took nearly eight years to negotiate.

Even North and South Korea could beat that.

It is high time the world turned from left to right. We have been subdued by PC and liberal mind control for too long.

BREXIT and the presidentship of Donald Trump are a breath of fresh air. The world is moving forward, and some can't handle it.

Tough shit.

We the people will progress as we should, liberals will be left behind as they deserve to be.

West London

So what is the non-liberal take on how society and the economy should be structured to function well?

How does Brexit or a Trump presidency help this?

Negotiating a deal with many parties involved but of equivalent size and stature (within Europe or between the EU and the USA or China or Canada) is difficult and takes time. Fine. Why not? There's a significant benefit ofit works.

Negotiating a deal between two parties is easy when there is a power imbalance. The bigger party tells the smaller party what it wants. The UK is now the smaller party.

One more thing to consider. Are you happy with large corporations not paying taxes in the countries that they make their profit? Trump has clearly stated America first. What's good for a US company? Also note that every single trade deal that the USA signs includes a clause that if a signatory introduces a law that will effect the profits of a US company trading with them they will have to arbitrate and pay compensation. So, if an ingredient causes cancer and it's banned the UK government would have to pay a US firm compensation for taking it out.

Please be clear. The UK is important to is because we live here. It is of importance to other major players because we have a substantial influence on the entire continent of Europe. We have just, voluntarily, surrendered that influence.

We have not surrendered anything, we are just stuck in a ruck because A50 has not been activated. Even when it is, it will take two years to get totally out of the EU. Hopefully those two years will be used to make the right deals with the right companies, even with, if necessary the EU.

I believe that we will do more business with the US. Trump will reverse the Obama threat that we will be last in any list of nations to trade with. He has said that we will now be top of the list. I'm optimistic about this, in spite of others pouring scorn on it.

I don't feel sorry for the whinging bastard liberals who didn't want BREXIT and hate Donald Trump. They have had everything their own way for far too long. They will either grow up or get left behind, the whole PC narrative will also end when the real centre right moves away from the BREXIT campaigning and start to actually govern the nation.

I am positive about this, because I believe both results to be positive, not just for the UK and US, but eventually the world around us.
