Don't see what it would achieve really.

People here say it would hinge on the brexitablilty of the candidates but, in reality, what would happen? I doubt it would be a one issue election, and surely it shouldn't be as we do actually have a country to run. So we'd still end up with Labour here, no matter what the candidate said re Brexit. Of course, in the marginals it may make a difference but not in safe seats.

Although I am a firm remainer and proud of it, we need to get a plan and do something. And absolutely this goes before parliament.

So, no election, no point.

I dont see any correlation between leaving the EU and needing a new government

Is there a need for a general election?

Not yet, but potentially I can see the conditions for one developing extremely rapidly between now and the spring.

Will it result in a change of governing party?

Probably, but it will be more a case of parties losing the election than winning it.

Will it be helpful?

I would say no, it will result in a more divided country and broken country.

Why not? - If you want Theresa May to have a much bigger majority that is.

If you believe that the Tories will get a bigger majority if there is a snap election a very different idea of how an election will play out.

I am not being sectarian because I do not see any point in trying to score political points so please think hard about what I am going to say before answering.

If there is a snap election it will be caused by Brexit and will very quickly become a single issue vote of confidence. The main parties will be unable to paper up the cracks within their parliamentary parties. UKIP will challenge in all seats where the sitting MP no matter what party they represent is a remainer. This will split the vote in many seats both Labour and Tory. The result will be that many sitting Labour and Tory MPs in England and Wales will lose their seats when remainers and brexiters vote tactically in order to stop the other side from winning the seat and we will end up with a hung parliament with UKIP and the SNP holding the balance of power.

UKIP and the SNP will be unable to reach any terms resulting in Scotland seceding from the union and thus triggering another constitutional crisis and therefore another snap election. Which will result in the absolute division of the population and probably the destruction of the Labour, Liberal democrats and Tory Parties to be replaced by something I really don't want to contemplate.

The SNP have already kicked Labour out of Scotland big style. So the biggest gains will be for UKIP, who might well hold the ballance of power after a snap election. But I can't see them ever weighing in to support any deal with Labour or the LibDems. As a staunch pro BREXIT supporter, I would vote UKIP myself. I believe the Tories would still win, but would hope that UKIP did better than the last election.

As for Scotland leaving the Union? I was against that in the past. But they elected the SNP, and Sturgeon is so red, anti British and pro EU, that I now wouldn't be sad to see the back of them.
