So, with less than 24 hours to go, who do Forumites think will win the US Election?

I'm not sure personally, but from my perspective, it seems like the American people are stuck between a rock and a hard place.

"Clinton because no1 in right mind would vote for trump "

But who in their right mind would vote for Clinton?

I have very little interest in US politics generally, and as both candidates are "toxic" it is amazing that it ends up with these two? Could a poor American ever become a president - or is that option only available to the rich elite? How someone with no politic experience, never held any job in politics, could become the most powerful man in the world? Bizzare.

true, but Trump might have had a point when he said he was proud not to be a politician. As someone said, it seems strange that 4 recent presidents can come from 2 families. That surely says that something is wrong. Who will be the 2020 president? Michelle Obama?

If Hilary isnt in clink then she will the candidate for 2020 if she wants to be, then perhaps MO might get to fight it out for 2424

Personally I think it can go either way - I don't want to guess. Both are shit

I don't envy American voting options, one is a career politician who if evidence shows correctly, is more corrupt than usual politicians. Has no charisma, and has overseen a host of mistakes - if she gets in I hope she has learnt lessons and acts on them

The other is someone who might throw his dummy out of his multi-million dollar pram of privilege

, if the vote doesn't go his way. Not to mention he constructs most of his buildings with non-American labour and materials, and bought concrete from the New York Mafia for Trump tower - so could be said to be just as corrupt. Not to mention he has no experience in politics, not even at a local level.

I wish neither were likely to get in. Hilary represents a lot of aspects of what is wrong in America, Trump has the capacity to unleash a lot of sentiments, backed by actions, which were best left with a bottle cap confining them to internet forums and small private conversations.

Excellent debate, thanks all.

I think the level of corruption in the states is as high as in any other country. Money in the states though seems to talk more than personality or principles.

Trump is a bully and Clinton a puppet. One buys support the other is bought by supporters.

Scary times ahead for planet earth.

On the Michelle Obama front, if Clinton is elected today, I can see MO bring nominated for 2024. As precedent will have been :

Barak as first black President

Hillary as first woman.

There does seem to be a lot of nepotism in American politics. So I can see MO being elected next time.
