But Scotland, like England, Ireland and Wales, wad never been part of the Empire, they were, and most still are, part of the United Kingdon, which preceded the Empire by about 100 years. It was called The British Empire, not the English Empire and many of the territories were actually Scottish before they became British (Hong Kong, Belize). And it was James VI of Scotland that first united the crowns. So don't try and paint Scotland as some kind of residual colony of empire because it never was. If anything the Empire was more a Scottish project than it ever was an English one.

Look Uganda was always a bit of a dump. It cannot, however, come close to emulating the post independence performance of the cesspit now known as zimbabwe. Now there is an example of post independence mismanagement that it's monumental even by African standards.

Op....I think you've been reading to much of Nicolas bullshit.

.

I've got nothing against independence, I've said it before many times, just let's not bullshit about how well off you may or may not be from it!!

.

Haiti shares the island of Hispaniola with the Dominican republic, Haiti gained independence first of everyone, the poor on Dominican republic had to endure under French rule for decades and then under an American dictator for more decades.

.

Go and look at those two countries and see who's better off, freedom does not always bring you prosperity?

No, let's not hope he's right. It's not something we want.

We were down in Chichester last year. Nice part of the country.
