I like to debate any number of things with people as long as I can be sure that there is weight and sincerity behind opinions and points that are being shared and discussed. But how to achieve this on a broadly anonymous forum where there are a large number of fake profiles in existence. I have no interest in being trolled by people who have nothing better to do in their lives than be contrary and wank off every time they spark a reaction in others.

I have decided on my own weighting scale of validity which is aligned to the social activity of the profile. This being based on the premise that if someone has multiple verifications and is also a regular club visitor or attendee of social functions, they are less likely to post bullshit that they can subsequently get called out on. By the same token those with no personal verification and no social activity could feel that it doesn't really matter what they post as no one would ever find out anyway. I realise that this is a fairly broad brush approach, but psychologically, it has its merits and it is what I will be using moving forwards.

What do others do to test the "troll" and/or "bullshitness" of posts made in this section?

I take it as face value because whilst anonymous, there is someone out there with the same viewpoint the trolls are espousing, even if it isn't them. Such viewpoints need to be addressed. Everything I write is what I think, although I have been know to change my opinion. I have no trouble saying things to someone's face and my opinions are based on my life experiences, so I think valid .... at times I will, not in this forum, but others, call someone out or suggest a different view point because I think so many are so far up their own arse they have no escape and need a reality check .... I should realise I am wasting my time though.

I try to see the bigger picture rather than what is in the picture frame if you know what I mean. Some paintings would be nothing without the frame that surrounds them.

Some people become more entrenched and more ridiculous or take it to a personal level, are utterly rude, dismissive or assume you haven't thought things through though.

So why worry about them I voted leave for my own reasons I don't expect anyone else to think the same as I do but I don't dismiss them as not worth the time. People don't like change and the UK is going to have the biggest shake-up its had for over 40 years. I,m not saying its going to be easy it will be hard for the next 5 to 10 years the EU don't want the UK to make good of Brexit because they know it will be the end of the EU if we do.

There's a person behind every profile. I don't use profile text, pics or verifications as any kind of 'proof' that their opinion is valid. To me, every post is valid.

I never debate the person just the message!.

I like factual logic based discussion and not biased by your own life experiences!.

Something either works for me based on evidence or it doesn't!.... That's how I live my life.

Plus the alcohol
