As they prepare to close the immigrant camp at Calais Hollande warns that the UK must play it's part in the humanitarian effort. Had the French done more instead of letting things escalate to the stage where lives are threatened by lawless gangs they might not be in this mess.

About time too. Really don't understand how it was allowed in the first.

But then France is a land of 'imbeciles'- Gerard Depardieu

That is right, why should france have it? They did say if uk left the eu, they would not keep them there, my predictions was right, england can expect 50k influx of them.

We, the UK have already started to play our part.

Work has begun on a £1.9m wall to block migrants and asylum seekers from attempting to board lorries heading to the Calais port and keep the fuckers out.

.

Our UK wall structure will stand 4 metres tall and 1km long on both sides of the dual carriageway approaching the port, a few hundred metres from the main "economic" immigrant camp

.

Funded entirely by us, the UK, and it has already begin,

so, whether it closes (which we have been hearing for god knows how long, or whether it stays open, we will follow in the footsteps of Trump and keep the fuckers out.

Perhaps they could use the purpose built camp that was built for them, you know, the one with proper shelter and facilities or is that just too far from the port for them

They wouldn't go there because they would be processed and their asylum applications would be registered in France.

Just goes to prove what a lazy bastard Hollande is when he expects the UK to sort out his EU border-free mess.

Oh right, why would that be a bad thing for them? Does france not give them many benefits, opportunity or house them?

I believe that once their asylum application is logged in France then they cant claim asylum in Britain at a later date.

Please excuse me for my ignorance but I'm struggling to see how this problem belongs to the UK.

These economic migrants landed in a southern European country and were allowed to travel unhindered to Calais. Surely the people at fault were the authorities in Greece/Italy/France, etc. for letting them travel. They have not set foot on UK soil. We have did our job by controlling our frontier. So tell me again why it's our problem....I keep looking at it & I keep seeing a French problem....perhaps I'm not looking properly....

Yep. I'll give that one a few thumbs as well

I would add that the "closure" of the jungle (I put that in quotes because I will believe it when I see it) is nothing more than a desperate act by Hollande.

It's election time for him in the Spring and he is way behind in the polls. Just like Sarkozi last week he is trying to steal a bit of Le Pen's thunder.

Huff and puff a bit, send in a few riot shields for the press, and normal service will be resumed after the election.

The frogs are taking the piss. They let them into their country and allowed them to set up their so called “refugee camp,” with all of the people wanting to come to England. Those same people are still in France and that is where they should stay....

Dear old BBC did there usual hand winging propaganda on the news.

Reality check: is it really bad.

Answer Greece and Germany have twice as many so obviously it's not bad.

Well why don't we use that same attitude for stabbings.

Reality check 190 stabbings in London.

Answer no it's fine South Africa and Brazil has twice as much.

Nothing to see here

How do they get into France ? Presumably not direct? So they are on the receiving side of others taking the piss, yet we expect them to accept them, as we don’t want to.
