Meeting with an MP

somewhere in the sticks

Have been reading the comments people have made on here recently about certain MPs.

They are elected to represent the interests of people in their constituencies & they are available to meet & discuss their concerns.

Am wondering how many people have actually met these MPs or have actually bothered to contact their own MP & what the outcome was…?

Are we just choosing to insult MPs in Ministerial positions just because we're unhappy with the current Government?

Everyone should know their MP, MSP as well as their local councillor.

My MSP Roseanna Cunningham has visited my previous home on various occasions and helped me in the fight to have flood protection, piling & flood wall built, this paid off and I still keep regular contact

You'd be outside my filters, due to distance. I'm sure most will disagree with my profile yet this is my experience...

Driffield

I wrote to our local MP when my late wife was being harassed by HMRC who claimed she owed tax, bearing in mind she had been medically retired for more than ten years we wrote to them to find out why. Not once did we get a civil reply to explain why she needed to pay, just another demand for more money. We paid around £600 that year. The following year it started again this time the bill was around £1200 and climbing daily, my dear wife was distressed and almost suicidal with worry, again there was no explanation as to why she owed tax, just another £10 a day due to late payment.

Within a couple of weeks of our MP getting involved she received an apology and a cheque for £50. Not much for the stress caused but at least it was resolved.

Yes I've met him multiple times and think he's quite good. It always causes a dilemma for me at election time because I like him but not so much his party.

However I usually end up voting for him in spite of his party because his track record in our area is second to none. He's also not a fecking career politician.

I wrote to the Minister for Children and Young people when I found out that disclosure checks are NOT mandatory for people working with children and vulnerable adults. She ignored me. Pretty much confirming my view that no-one actually cares when they get into a position in parliament. All about them and their careers. I realise my humongous sweeping generalisation but I've yet to find one who can contradict it.

met mine locally to raise an issue and have met him socially, he's not from the party I would vote for however I did consider backing him as an independent when some in his own association tried to get rid following him coming out..

have also met and raised other issue's by attending the House of Commons after writing to them and asking to meet there..
