To be very clear about this I am not trying instigate anything other than a discusion and I am not condoning breaking the law.

I would, however, be interested in others views that given some sections of the media are predicting rocketing temperatures in a week or so, due to the Spanish Plume, and the level of social agitation at the moment are we at risk of seeing further outbreaks of civil unrest?

I only ask as it feels to me somewhat similar to last time Brixton ran into such problems.

Spanish plumes have an average time length of about 60hrs... So it will have to be a really quick riot

You want a really big Azores high for a decent hot spell!

The corelation between temperature (especially nighttime temperature) and crime rates is more anecdotal than scientifically proven in the UK but there does appear to be links. A spanish plume is especially problematic as not only is it hot but due to the mixing in of Atlantic flows it is high humidity significantly increasing the metabolic heat stress. Basically losing excess energy through sweating become inefficient. Let face it we all know how tense things feel after a couple of days of hot humid, pre thinderstorm conditions.

It does seem like whenever we get a hot spell especially at night the fuckwits down the road kick off arguing with each other.

It's free entertainment and us usually get a chair out and a cold one so I can fully enjoy the show
