" We are barely a year from our last general election in which the Prime Minister said he would stand down before the next one. So the Tories are doing now what they, and the electorate, knew they would be doing only 2 years earlier. We elect MPs who elect a leader who is asked by Her Maj. to form a Government if they can command a majority. Nothing has changed. We also now have Fixed Term Parliaments of 5 years and so 'just calling an election' as PMs used to be able to do to their benefit is no longer an option. And yes if we do not like what the new PM does in the next 4 years we can kick her out. | |||
