"It's hard for the lefties to admit that he does believe what he's saying and that's exactly why he made the wrong decision. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Tony couldn't never get his head around the idea that there could be something worse than living under a bad guy like Saddam. Until he helped create it... " the thing is I think HE believes it !!!

Of course he does. The scientific term is called "confirmation bias".

"I thought he did okay. It's all very sad for the families here and in Iraq " The aftermath is the real disgrace, the war is a deflection from the real issues. To be fair the report does mention this.

"Oh isnt hindsight a wonderful thing.... i do believe it was entered into too quickly but if maybe Saddam had launched a nuclear missile at a major European city, we would be having a different inquiry " Ye but thats the point, he couldn't and they knew he couldn't

" Thinks tony might slink off and spend some of his 50 odd million out of the media eye. " if only. The prick is so vain he couldn't even keep out of the referendum debate and never envisaged for one minute that he might put more people off remainimg than leaving, which I'm sure is the case

"Career politicians live in a bubble, even when the results of their decisions prove disastrous they are unable to accept their mistakes because they have never had to suffer the real consequences of their actions. " I don't see anyone pointing the finger at United States of America, Australia, Spain and Poland, Why is that?.

" What I do find uncomfortable is the use of dead soldiers and civilians to make political points or to say 'I told you so'." You will always have deaths in war and you will always have a group of people that oppose all wars because they create death. It's probably inevitable that they shove that back at the people who supported the war. What isn't inevitable is a completely botched reconstruction after the war. It boils down to relatively simple decisions like a policy of truth and reconciliation vrs a policy of debaathification. What's clear is that these 101 decisions weren't even considered until we basically had boots on the ground. That is so fundamental to things like the military covenant that it is negligence pure and simple.
