"For fecks sake. we had a vote remain lost. it is legal it was constitutional. Thing will change just not yet get over it .fffffff" You realise it was an advisory vote? They don't have to act on it if they don't want to. It would be electorial suicide, but they could ignore the will of the people if they wanted to.

"20 minutes. In the infomertial age, you should be able to put your point over in less the 90 seconds. Otherwise the worker drones switch off and go to sleep. Politics of the masses has become message and soundbite driven. "Take back control", "Stronger for Scotland", "Holding feet to the fire", "24 hours to save the NHS" and the classics... "Labours not working" and "Things can only get better". I keep wondering if we can prosecute Political Parties under the Sale of Goods act for making false promises of the goods offered?" That is exactly one of the claims he has made. That, if you are going to tell lies, make sure they are not small or medium lies but the most grossly outrageous lies so everyone will believe them.

They don't have to act on it if they don't want to. It would be electorial suicide, but they could ignore the will of the people if they wanted to. Well given Parliament passed legislation for the referendum and therefore handed the decision to the people of the UK thne it has the legitimacy of that Act of Parliament. To say it was 'advisory' is stretching the meaning of the word. Parliament asked us to make a decision for it. It handed power over this matter to us and we did that. So now Parliament (not political parties) must act on that decision as we decided in that free vote. I have to observe the only people now looking for Constitutional bypasses are the people who lost the vote. You only have to listen to those people interviewed on that demonstration yesterday to realise how they really did not seem to have a clue what the EU is let alone what the issues are. One said outside the EU all LGBT and Human Rights will disappear so we should Remain! As they wrapped themselves in the EU flag and insulted the UK.... If they don't like it outside the EU well they can move to Germany, or France or wherever. And when they leave they can move again .... " On that point.. the many Brexiters confused the Court of Human rights as being part of the EU and are looking forward to leaving it. The Court of Human rights is nothing to do with the politicos of the EU. So your take on democracy is "dissent not allowed", you say if they don't like it, take care your soft xenophobia is peeking from under your skirts.

" Well I don't wear skirts but I take your point even if it is wrong. I never said dissent was not allowed anywhere did I? I was making the point that from the various interviews of people on that march they really didn't have a clue. IMHO. As for the Human Rights thing I have to say I never heard ONE Brexiter make that claim or assumption. In fact we were making the point that all the 'Rights' the 'Remainers' banged on about being lost were either nothing to do with the EU (Human Rights) or were in British Law pre the EU (maternity pay, Holiday pay, Sick pay etc). But it formed part of many of the threats the 'Remainers' threw about. I do know the ECHR is nothing to do with the EU and actually made that point in my Post. Bottom of the last paragraph.

"the guy is probably the most experienced and competent person in the UK to address the issue. Why? I've never heard of him " He is probably the most highly qualified person in the UK to talk about the subject as EU Constitutional Law is his speciality. It is fairly much a given that he will have a senior position on the Brexit team as he knows the EU and UK laws inside out.

It wasn't a polemic, it wasn't trying to change people's mind, he just said what he felt we faced, based on years of academic research. We need people like him - on both sides.

I'm not sure I'd go as far to say that he's the "the most experienced and competent person" since the issues in the referendum weren't really about interpreting EU or British law. Remain voters were concerned about the economy which isn't a legal matter and leave voters were firstly more bothered about who makes laws, than what they say and immigration which is pretty clear cut in the EU, less so out of it.

He spoke factually about points of law that referred to: "Independence" Taking back control Unelected bureaucrats Turkey EU funding (input and output) and the validity of EU rebates The single market Validity of UK opt outs on ever closer union, the Euro and Schengen The point he made in his original video was that both sides exaggerated claims but whereas Remain claims were about the possible negative consequences of leaving, the Leave claims were made about the negative consequences brought about by situations that they claimed were factual (those above) but which in fact are not only not factual, but wilfully misleading. In a Court, a conviction made on the evidence of perjury could and should be appealed and the conviction would not stand.

You've hit the nail on the head, politicans wether they be EU or UK.. They have this habit of saying,i know what's best for you and that would be fine if they weren't all taking bungs off every billionaire or multi national, but they are and now nobody belives a fucking word they say because they've cried wolf for 40 years .... diddums... Probably not, does it make us all feel empowered, most definitely, you can see that by the rise in racism, do I feel bad about that, sure, do I think I should have gone along with a bunch of politicans who've shafted everyone for 40 years just to say oh well at least the ugly people didn't get empowered.... The trouble with the EU is it's always been a enlightened plutocracy.... This works fine when things work, when they fail, which they have done now for about 8 years since the banking crises, you'll get pushback, they are so awestruck with their own grandeur they couldn't ever believe somebody would want to leave!

Newday, the credit card company, is valued at £1 billion, the so called caravan park, as you somewhat sneeringly described it, (Park Holidays) is valued at £250 million. The article also mentions that the sale of MBNA (worth £7 billion) could be stopped and that the sales of Tata Steel interests in the UK are now at risk. So that's about £10 billion worth of risk so far - and that's all Sky news chose to highlight. It's not just bankers bonuses and porsches at risk - it's the jobs of the employees of those companies. As an ex lorry driver you should appreciate that, Chalk old son.

That will rock the Treasury. And apparently: "The fall in the value of sterling leads to overseas buyers attempting to take advantage in order to snap up corporate bargains. A number of listed companies have asked their advisers to prepare takeover defences against potential interest from American predators." So much for the idea that Brexit will stop overseas investment. Its not like Sky News to make something out of nothing is it? Sorry, but you didn't mention a single investment into the UK in your post." I didn't think I had to but here are two for you: The German Bourse confirmed today it is buying the UK Stock Exchange. EDF (a French State owned business) has confirmed it will continue with the building of Hinckley Point nuclear power station. Along with the Chinese investors who also confirmed they are staying in.

So much for the idea that Brexit will stop overseas investment. Its not like Sky News to make something out of nothing is it? " Not one job is being lost here so stop peddling that myth. Oh wait sorry that is all you do .... The values of the businesses is irrelevant to job losses in this context. All that is NOT happening is a change of ownership. Some employees may feel happier about that because what happens when new owners buy companies is that they lay off people to make more profits. Ask Cadburys .... And the 'Chalk' thing is getting rather boring Old Son ... As I said if you are an ex-teacher with a chalk fixation take it elsewhere. It means diddley squat here.

Breaking news on the diddly squat front, Chalky chappy: Diddly squat is exactly how much you knew about the deals involved (remember that caravan park? ) and the effect of delaying them. Diddly squat is exactly how much you knew about the effect on jobs of these deals being delayed or abandoned. Diddly squat is what you know about the effect of delaying other investments that could have been made with the proceeds of the sales. So frankly, for you to come up with even more mythical assertions about the lack of impact of delays to these deals is, well, just... diddly squat. About £10 billion worth of diddly squat at that. If enough of these major transactions are delayed it will have a depressing effect on the economy and the movement of capital and push down investment and growth. You can get a glimpse of that in today's announcement of a major down turn in confidence in the construction industry. If that goes to pot, affecting 10% of national GDP, all that moaning about immigrants causing wage compression will be worth... you've got it, diddly squat, like the wages of unemployed construction workers, or even unemployed lorry drivers.

"Many Brexiters now say that they were not influenced by campaigners and that they researched and made their own minds up, thus distancing themselves from the lies." why do folk find it so hard to believe that others weighed up the situation and came to diffrent conclussions. Must be brainwashed

"We have had an uneasy relationship with the EEC/EU since the day we joined. I believe the reason for this is that we have been largely mislead about the fundamental purpose of the organisation., namely that it is driving 'ever closed Union' and as a consequence a watering down of national sovereignty. During the referendum campaign I do not think I heard even the most pro EU remainiac claim that they did not want EU reform. It seems to me that if the EU elite had been prepared to offer Cameron a reasonable deal on sovereignty and border control then we probably would not have voted as we did. Inflexible dogma on the part of the EU has brought us to where we are."
