Just listened to him on Newsnight and he quite rightly is calling on BoJo to stand up and be counted and pointed out the 'miss speaks' he made. Lets allow the Exit team to negotiate now and deliver on their promises...it will be interesting to see how hyperbole becomes reality...

"Is heseltine still an MP? "

Probably a Lord now, but way more sensible than most people we've heard in the past few weeks!

His idea of letting the Brexiters deliver their campaign programme would mean that Boris would never get chance to re-invent himself for PM in 2 years time.

No doubt the general public will be more than aware of his lies by now and vote him out by call of a general election for failure to deliver his mandate of £350m and immigration control.

Much as I hate to say put Boris in the PM slot, but Heseltines idea to put him in is a good one, as his buffoonery will shine through.

I am worried as to who will take over as Chancellor as there is now talk of outing Osborne. Much as his austerity has been deep the economy need stability and continuity of office

It is time the Exit team were called to task and made to be accountable for the mess they have created. Osbourne should probably stay in place to manage the now.

I bet he is tired of managing recessions though.

Agreed, much like we all are living through them. Given the mess he nherited, I give him a lot of credit and I think Danny Alexander did a good job also. But people have short & negative memories.

He's:

But seemingly wiser than most younger than he...

Indirectly I think Osborne was at the root of the leave vote.

His austerity measures have put public services under strain, not immigrants. Farage seized on it and twisted it.

Root cause analysis - blame Gordon Brown for screwing it up before the Conservative/Liberal coalition. Don't blame the guy fixing the problem...

on the road to nowhere in particular

Hessletine was a busted flush many years ago. He is now a rambling old geriatric that has lost the plot. This would be obvious to anyone who heard any of his interviews in the run up to the referendum.
