Are YOU one of the 1000+ London Visa workers?

Hundreds of British-based jobs at the credit card giant Visa could be forced to relocate to the Continent in the wake of last week's EU referendum.

an agreement in the recent £17.5bn takeover of Visa's European operations by its American sister company included a stipulation that data from Visa card transactions should not leave Europe.

A source in Frankfurt said that German regulators, and possibly others elsewhere in the EU, were expected to push for Visa's UK-based data centre operations to be shifted to a market within the EU once Britain leaves the trading bloc.

Well over 1,000 people work for Visa in London

It hasn't happened yet.

But until a deal is agreed to there'll be a lot of upheaval.

“The process and timing for the UK leaving Europe remains unclear," a Visa spokeswoman said.

"While we continue to monitor the situation carefully, it is premature to speculate on whether possible changes to the location of our data centres would make sense or be required.”

It's highly likely many financial services companies will relocate out of the UK ahead of BREXIT to get ahead of their competitors especially as they are not British companies. Now we have voted other people get to react in their own best interests.

A large proportion of the UK’s economy is based on the Service industry, banking, insurance etc. This is one of the 4 basic freedoms that underpins the european single market; the free movement of Services, Goods, Labour and Capital. Many financial service companies will want to continue to offer their services to the EU, they can do that a lot easier from inside the EU.

If these companies leave, the British economy will be devastated. Don’t think that we will be suddenly coal mining, ship building and steel making to make up for the loss of our financial services industry.
