Just been walloped with 180 quid for the licence.

Should we be allowed to have a say in who the BBC employes?

And what its spent on ? Like Hugh Edward's 300 grand pension?

I'd vote for naga munchetty to get booted out straight away!! Along with other cretins and tedious nerks

I'm not saying don't do the sports thing on breakfast but let one of the presenters do it, no need for extra unnecessary staff to do it.

Haven't legally paid for it since 2017. Can't say I miss much of its content. Used to be great for comedy and news night. Now just a shallow mess that has prompted Farage for at least 26 yrs by making him a regular guest on everything. Best decision, I don't need live TV, got a life and catchup is there.

I'd be happy for the BBC to become a pay for view channel and compete with the rest.

I'd happily pay a subscription, as I like some of the content.

Think the licence fee is a bit outdated.

If the BBC are happy their content is world beating they have no worry jumping into a competitive arena.

He's this exactly was what I was thinking.

If your watching other channels other than the BBC you shouldn't have to pay out..

Not sure who owns things like the transmitter masts etc.. and pays for the maintenance but subscription would be the way to go.

The BBC won't be paying for Hugh Edwards' pension. They will have given money to a pension fund ages ago when he was employed, and it will be the pension fund that is paying Edwards (assuming he's reached pensionable age).

I dont watch that rubbish, its illegal to fund criminals so i dont pay tv licence. There is an opt out form you can fill in to legally declare you dont and will not watch the channels.

BBC seems to be an attempt to create an "independent" and "unbiased" media service. I guess what we have realised now is that neither is possible in practice. The service still needs money and hence are dependent on someone. And it has to employ humans who are biased. So they can't be completely unbiased either.

They have their checks and balances which have failed miserably at times. Now they are in an existential crisis. The current model seems to be unsustainable.

unordinary the BBC spends a lot of time & money sending out threatening letters & too little on making good programmes. I really object the recent "adverts " on the BBC telling us how good they are ? or perhaps "this is how we waste your money"?

Why boost his ego by bumping up his viewings?

Just ignore the letters or send them back marked 'Unsolicited nuisance mail'

They are never going to come knocking on the day which they refer to in the threat.

They could have made a fortune doing spot checks during the world cup broadcasts if they had put their minds to it.

The roads were even quiet, then, so easier to carry out the swoops!

The bottom line is that the current funding model is failing.

The old do not pay. Increasing numbers of the young, do not watch live broadcasts and do not pay.

Many in the middle are 'opting out' whether legally or illegally.

The approach of the BBC is indicative of many of it's problems. "Nothing to see here. If we carry on as we have, the problem may go away".

I am currently looking at the feasibility of dropping my Sky subscription and watching streamed content only.

Model needs dramatic change. BBC should become a pay per view service or introduce commercials and then stand on its own merits. They have an unfair advantage over every other broadcaster and need to prove their worth in an open market.

I probably only watch the BBC now for local news and the odd programme every now and then. Probably less than 5 hours a week and at an exorbitant price.
