So the suspect immediately identified as 26 years old and white has been released without charge .

But it is ok as theinvestigation is "moving at a significant pace"

Another example of two tier society . Read Southport and the lack of info as to the vile killers identity .

Why do you think the powers that be are supposedly so keen to rush out the information that any suspect is white at the moment, whilst supposedly keeping their cards closer to their chest if the suspect is ethnic minority & esp. Muslim?

Do you think it might have something to do with limited police resources trying to keep broader civil order?

Anyhow, in respect of Ann Widdicombe, I didn’t agree with her views usually, but she was a feisty Brit with a vein of eccentricity who I was prepared to listen to regardless if she was on the TV even if it was just to shake my head in disagreement.

As above though, what cnut kills a near 80 year old woman in her own home? Few people deserve that ending to life & she certainly didn’t as far as I know. RIP.

I don’t know. I’m just putting it out there. But, putting myself in a Chief Constable’s shoes, I probably wouldn’t blame them if they chose to drip feed the information given the febrile societal atmosphere in the UK at the moment.

In Southport they had the killer. The information wasn't important as they weren't looking for anyone. In this case they didn't have anyone when they released they were looking for someone white. It was pertinent to the investigation.

For the narrative to hold, the killer needs to be quickly identified as someone who the gammons identify as The Enemy - so brown or trans or lefty. Their beef is that police procedure isn't fast enough for their social media frenzy, so therefore it's "two tier", which is Reform's new favourite phrase

So no real issues then.

Think probably best leave the Police to do their jobs.

The Social Media Police Service will just have to stay at home with mum for the foreseeable.

Once the investigation is completed they can then be released from mum or Matron's care to spew their bile.

I don't grasp OPs point. .

It sounds a disgusting case and nobody deserves a violent end to their life. That someone was arrested so quickly, suggested the police were on the ball. He was released and isn't under concern but another has been arrested.

We should expect that anyone perpetrating violence is dealt with swiftly and appropriately. We need to focus on this, not spurious allegations of tiers, etc, that stokes division. Keep society together, not unraveling

Some people appear to lose aspects of their humanity when responding to dreadful events like this online. When a woman is brutally murdered in her own home it is not a time for making dismissive comments, poking fun or even engaging in political point scoring. Show some respect and think about how her family and friends must be feeling at this time. Some basic human empathy and thoughtfulness. It shouldn’t be difficult.

The great thing about these forum posts is they highlight the ignorant, unbelievably stupid, self centred trash of society.

They can't hold back spewing their vile comments.

Most would be outraged if anyone dared say something nasty about them.

There used to be some not so clear guidance on revealing the suspect ethnicity in such cases. But pretty sure that they decided to reveal the ethnicity in all the cases recently. One example is the recent Belfast attack where they revealed both ethnicity and immigration status instantly and the suspect then was non-white.

Just to add for fairness, whites make up a higher proportion of theft/burglary convictions and charges offences per capita, at 89%. Incidentally, there are rumours this killing may have been a burglary gone wrong.

"Incidentally, there are rumours this killing may have been a burglary gone wrong."

I've seen TV shows, whenever the local cops say that it's a burglary gone wrong it turns out to be an elaborate murder plot.

There's also a rumour that the suspect left his house with 'a weapon', and drive 270 miles to Widdecombe's house. That doesn't seem to fit in with the burglary theory.

Maybe it's better to wait for the evidence to revealed so that we can make decisions based on fact rather than supposition.

He was seen on another cctv the morning of the Wednesday leaving home..

"It's a minefield for police. Not least because the minute a suspect is identified as "ethnic" innocent people get targeted, windows smashed, homes threatened with moss in the street etc. If people could behave themselves then the police could be more open. "

Its not their job to police information or decide what the public should and shouldnt know.

If the public are irate every time an instance of migrant crime occurs, then the question should be why that is. Not just sweep it under the rug.

Are ‘the public’ irate, or is it a small section of the public, who often have previous convictions for violence, domestic or otherwise, who are irate?

Not all are irate, some are yes but the reasons behind that is with some of them an 'opportunity, a sick justification' to target people of colour usually because someone on social media tugs their chains..

People on social media with multiple convictions and previous for such things, even when the families of the victims plead that the cruel loss of their loved ones isnt hijacked and used by anyone to attack other innocent people..

And some of the public and lets be brutally honest its again people of colour or Muslims who lock their doors, close their businesses and live in complete fear when they are as outraged by the loss of a life..

I think the majority of people want peace and don't want further agitation of a fragile society. They want people to calm down and behave responsibly and with respect for others and the peace

I am going to come back to this….

It absolutely IS their right to withhold certain information if disclosing it at any point could prejudice any potential criminal charges. jury trial and a conviction!

For example, rod liddle almost caused a mistrial into a grooming gang that had SA children by publishing information that could taint a jury!

Why do you think Tommy Robinson has been warned more than once and charged with contempt of court for publishing information that could prejudice a jury! Reporting restrictions!

"So agree with you. Death penalty "

If the justice system was infallible then maybe the death penalty could be justified.

But given the history of innocent people who have been wrongfully invarcerated or put to death, only for the verdict to be overturned later, I cannot support it, no matter how heinous the crime!

I would rather 100 murderers get to live in prison than 1 innocent person be put to death!

Typically a person has to be charged in 4 days or let go. Guessing classing it as terrorism is to give them more time to gather evidence.

How is disclosing someones race going to prejudice a criminal charge?

If that were the case, then why are they happy to release the race when the person is white?

Yes and no…

You normally get 48hr to be charged.. but you can then apply to judge to get another 48hr extension, however law applying to terrorism related offences are different

So what they did is arrest him, use that 48 hr, technically “release” him, but re arrest him straight away under terror offences of which they are allowed to hold him for up to 7 days to either charge or release

Wasn’t it reported as part of the standard trial proceedings? It is usual to give some overview of the crime and its gravity so the judge can initially size the situation up.

How can it be crass or insensitive?

For the past four years, we’ve had vivid images of people bombed out of their homes in Ukraine all over our TVs. We’ve seen pictures of children with their arms and legs blown off, amputees and starving people holding begging bowls in Gaza, and mutilated bodies in Israel.

There’s been no pictures released of the deceased fatal injuries

So the (alleged) murderer is seen entering the house after his car is seen outside. He's apparently seen on cctv actually carrying out this barbaric murder.

My question is, why is it going to be 11 months before a trial??

Cuts to funding, the pandemic and other pressures, have led to the regular delays in courts in England, which will be the key factors slowing it down. There's also been limited information released to the public, though terrorism was mentioned. There may still be lots of research to be done, on a very complex case, with specialist resources.

I swear the amount of chirping certain figures are doing… in particular Farage, Tice and Zia Yusef are doing in trying to link him and his security and the financial questions being asked, to this awful murder is going to end up in a mistrial because they are going to end up saying something above and beyond!

Are there things that the police probably are not telling us at the moment… absolutely!

Do we need to know right now.. god no!
