That's exactly what an interviewer will say, and Farage will go on to talk about that. The conversation will then be about how much support Farage has rather than his finances. If the interviewer keeps going on about it being a small vote, Farage can reply that he asked for a general election, but Labour refused, and go on to point out that they changed Prime Minister without an election having previously said that was wrong and shouldn't be allowed. | |||

Step back and consider this logically, if you do, you will hopefully arrive at the position of seeing that Farage has tried to take back control of a narrative. He has succeeded due to a calculated risk that some wont stand against him and he can also manipulate the story to be the victim and win. . It's not cheap to run a by election but it's reported that reform offered to pay for it but the government apparently are not allowed to accept it. I don't recall the labour MP that stood down to make way for Burnham offering to help with the costs of the by election he caused or did I hear criticism about the costs at the time. I watched a video from an ex MP yesterday who says Farage is highly likely to be found guilty by the commission (If he is re elected) and giving him a harsh punishment like suspension and a by election will help him play the victim so playing into his hands. They suggested making him give a grovelling apology in the house will hurt him far more. Not sure I agree but they have far more experience than me | |||

He may have significantly altered the outcome, and so many make it too easy for him.
The standards committee can only suspend him, they can't remove him from parliament. The best thing to have done in my opinion would have been for the parties to have put away their fear of losing and took him on, that had the potential to remove him, if not, weaken his support and more than likely triggered a second by-election if he had won.
