BBC News - Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after 'brutal' knife attack in Belfast

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cdejnjdg08eo

The first line:

"A man believed to be Somali has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a "brutal" knife attack in Belfast, police have said."

We've now gone from not revealing anything about religion, race or nationality, to putting it right at the top of the article, before any other context.

While not a fan of the secrecy around some previous stories, this one seems a bit too on the nose. Or perhaps the context of an attack in NI informed the article?

It's certainly very interesting timing for such a change in Auntie's editorial decisions...

Probably because he’s shouting in Somali at the camera while trying to behead him in the video

In Belfast a spade is called a spade although in this case the spade was called a shovel as he wasn't actually Somalian

Not sure auntie has editorial any more does it? Of more interest is if the criminal in this case will be fast tracked through prosecution and punishment in the same way as the protestors in Southport were. One suspects not.

Like it or not. Hiding the truth from people serves nobody. At the same time. Suspects are suspects until proven otherwise. In this particular case. He isn't a suspect as it's all caught on camera.

Other news sources say "Sudanese". But hey, African and beginning with "S", so... Same difference?

It looks like the PSNI got it wrong, in their rush. BBC explained.

Seems the home office have confirmed he is a Sudanese national and has leave to remain status until 2028. Yet another that claimed he needed this countries help only to go on and do this.

From the news story I'm not sure it matters terribly much if the violent criminal is from Sudan Somalia or Sierra Leone. The main point surely is that they committed a horrific crime, that the public saved the chaps life and that somebody has decided to give them a 5 year visitors visa.

Not sure the minutiae is so important given what else happened. But that's only my view.

Exactly. That's why the beginning of the article is so confusing. They've gone from hiding the information to making it literally the first detail. With the police being to fast to rush out that detail that they got it wrong.

It's what happens when a situation has been contrived over the last 15 years where one side is so desperate to blame immigration and the other side so desperate to show it's not got anything to do with immigration that the real news is lost amongst the click bait. It's all for clicks media now.

If the recording of the attack wasn't posted online it would of just been "Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after 'brutal' knife attack in Belfast"

couple, us we him her.

Not trying to make light of the horrendous attack.

But maybe the beeb should just revert to old pathe style reporting.

" foreign looking chappie commits terribly awful crime "

Seriously the quality of the BBC news has been so dumbed down now it's mainly shorts and clickbait.

Very little content that has any substance.

To be on the fence about attempted decapitation shows how low mainstream media are. Duplicitous bastards the lot of them.

I do find it strange that the immediate coverage focused on brutal knife attack by a potential immigrant. Yet at tbe same time a knife attack was happening by a child in an English school. That coverage seems to have been pulled now. Isn't it equally appalling children think its OK to attack and schools are not safe? Why the disparity.

Old news, now it’s all about the awful protestors.

Water cannon for them.

Hotel rooms and three meals a day for the migrants.

How the media and state have spun this.

Culprits should be stripped of all privileges and full disclosure revealed to the public. Our Government seriously needs to get their act together and help enforce better laws to aid as a deterrent. Simply reveal the truth and not deliver piece meal info. Name & shame. If foreign nationality then deport now not later.
