The IRS is a branch of the government

Trump is currently running the government

It's not like he's set this aside for himself and allies

Let me ask you WHY is there a $1.77B fund being set aside?

Was it because the previous administration weaponized the system to attack political opponents, discrediting and smearing their names?

We have a name for that

Do you support the action and tactics the democratics used when in power and attacking the republicans?

Or are you in support of due process and reparations cause that's what the $1.77B is for

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see the maths on how they got to 1.77

Gladly...

The IRS was weaponized under the previous administration and targeted political opponents to discredit them and find anything financial the Democratic party could use against them

These 'Allies' were unfairly targeted and as such have raised legal cases against the IRS for this unfair treatment

As such, the IRS knows it's messed up, knows it's going to lose in court and I preparing a pot of $1.7B in compensation to those affected

Time and time again, one side of the political spectrum love to FAFO and keep finding out the hard way they are wrong.

I think that should justify the amount, I don't agree with it but I also disagree even more when government entities are turned against the people.

Also, no need to call me the C word

Maybe change the record and look at why Nancy Pelosi was allowed to make millions from insider trading while a US soldier got arrested this month for doing the exact same thing.

It doesn't matter how much money a person has, if the government uses the legal system to persecute that person, they deserve compensation.

But there's no suggestion that Trump personally will be claiming any of this fund.

Ooooh… so close to being right… and by so close.. I mean not really

The reason why is that the courts were about to throw out his 10bn dollar lawsuit against the IRS… basically on the grounds that you really can’t sue yourself!

So the “settlement” he agreed with himself… sorry the IRS ……was the 1.776bn dollar slush fund for himself.. sorry I meant for those wronged.. even though they were all found guilty by jury of piers… and a “amnesty agreement” in that the IRS would write off any investigations of the trump organisation for any circumvention of taxes owed over the past 15 years

I mean… why would you specifically need that… hmmm…..

And finally the republicans on congress finally grew a spine and said… not passing that!! Probably because the midterm elections attack ads basically write themselves, especially since the cost of living and price of gas goes through the roof because of his war

To be fair… the stunt he has pulled this time round with the 1.776 billion dollar “weaponisation fund” is just so brazen even his own Republican senators are calling this one out

Well you are the one who accused everyone of always having TDS and it was the OP who specifically mentioned the fund in the very first post …..

The fund is basically a slush fund where he controls who the money goes to and has little oversight… plus giving himself and his family tax immunity is a corker!

I didn't accuse *everyone* of *always* having TDS, I sarcastically responded to one post. But if you are trying to get back the thread back on track ...

"The fund is basically a slush fund where he controls who the money goes to and has little oversight…"

Trump doesn't control who the money goes to, there's a five member panel (not appointed by Trump) who report to the Attorney General.

"... plus giving himself and his family tax immunity is a corker! "

Given that prominent Democrats have openly said that when they get into power they will put all efforts into examining Trump's and his family's tax affairs, that seems like a reasonable move. The Democrats are threatening to make what's left of his life miserable just because they hate him. Trump is using exactly the same reasoning that was used by Biden when he claimed that his son had to be given immunity otherwise the Republicans would persecute him when they got into power.
