Do you think the local election results will be similar to current polls or not?

Probably not ! Will be a lot of regional variables, low turnout and some tactical voting. Also Scotland and Wales have a new voting system which could produce strange results.

The only constant is that Starmer will get a spanking.

I think Greens and Reform will both do much better than polls in places and much worse in others - they are both polarising parties.

The reduction of motorway speed limits to 55mph and making people take their driving test every 5 years is sure to be a vote winner along with open borders and making all drugs legal.

The Greens just seem to drone on about Israel a lot. Not sure what it’s got to do with potholes or rubbish collection.

For some voters Israel is far more important.

Don't forget the abolition of prisons. That policy will be very popular to a number of people.

You don't need prisons if people are being caught early through greater mental health teams. Moat drink and drug abuse is down to health not arrest at the end result

people in prison are not allowed to vote so not an election winning strategy

No one claimed people in prison can vote. The quote was it would be popular with criminals.

About half of burglary and petty theft crimes are to fuel drug habits.

Separately (not to be confused with the above statement, despite similar numbers): "Fifty six per cent of suspects who were tested for drugs having been arrested for crimes such as robbery, burglary, and car theft, were found to test positive for either cocaine, opiates, or both."

And will the other half also prove to be eliminable by mental health efforts?

It's questionable as to whether the first half can be eliminated by mental health efforts. The entire picture is a complex social mess.

So that chap above who says that we "don't need prisons if people are being caught early through greater mental health teams" might be rather mistaken then.

It's certainly an oversimplification of a complex problem, although it's got a grain of truth at its core.

We know that those with mental health issues are more likely to offend. We know that mental health support can help those people not to offend. But, in and off itself, it certainly won't negate the need for prisons generally.

Most people in prisons have mental health issues and can't read, if we made sure people could read and wright and add and able to get a job and sort out mental health crime levels would all but disappear

Earlier on you said it needed "greater mental health teams". Now you seem to be saying that it needs education and unemployment guidance. Are you sure you've thought this through?

It's both, we need better education system and greater mental health provisions.

I'd be interested to know which attitude you think I have. I'm fairly sure I haven't expressed one so far in this thread.
