"Trump and Netanyahu attacked Iran for selfish reasons some national interests and others also, is it a surprise when other countries governments look after their own national interests..? " Not in the slightest. Macron is either playing this masterfully and is establishing France's independence, or is going to get burnt by retribution later on. Trump seems to be impressed by people with a backbone (as opposed to allies and sycophants), so possibly this will actually earn his respect. Who knows.

"Cooper did host a Zoom call about Hormuz. Maybe something will come out of that. Probably another Zoom call. A communique sternly demanding “immediate inaction”."

I really think its beginning to dawn upon other nations that whilst yes America is still a huge partner in trade and a dominant factor in Nato the current potus cant be fawned over and bowed down to.. Your right in that he grudgingly respects people who stand up to him that he cant sack so has to deal with.. I think whatever the next two and a bit years bring that America will need to reset itself after his time to repair some of what he's done, wants to do..

"This is going to happen more often as Trump gets bored and buggers off leaving the world to sort his mess out. Realpolitik will mean that other nations will need to reach accords with the now emboldened Iran. They have proven that they don't need nukes to have a serious impact on the world." They were proving to be an impact on the world before this conflict.

The current President was before this war started and after the January protests and how they were dealt with was sounding a bit accepting of the economic issues for the citizens.. I still think that was a PR stunt by the Regime but with how things might change, lifting of sanctions being offered etc.. They've shown they can control the straits and impact the global economy in doing so despite what Trump, Netanyahu and hegseth say so in some ways their position is stronger from that perspective.. And despite what any military spokesman might say they would prefer an end to this current situation..

"France always does whatever it wants in France’s interests. Not surprised about China and Russia blocking any UN resolutions. The West, and particularly Europe, have burnt their bridges with Russia in their own pointless never ending proxy war in Ukraine. Ayatollah Khomeini was living in France before he flew to Iran on an Air France plane in 1979. Could be because Trump insulted Macron and his “wife”. Impossible to say how it’s going to pan out. " It was a French company, not the french government as the EU also have certain sanctions in place with Iran From a business standpoint, 2 million dollars for 2 million barrels of oil, when the price is 115 dollars ish a barrel… it’s a no brainer Also, The us cannot claim the moral high ground on this one because they have vetoed every un resolution criticising Israel for the best part of the last 25 years
