"Is Iran now less of a threat to the world that it was in January? Yes or No ?" Short answer: yes. Their capability is degraded. Their appetite to cause damage will have moved from a strategic long-term high damage, to a short-term low damage.

"A very trite summary but probably totally incorrect. " Trite? What a charming way to dismiss someone's opinion, before launching into one's own unfounded speculation. It's factually correct that their current capability is degraded. It's probable that their future capability will be limited. It's almost certain that they will engage in low-to-mid level violence locally and globally in the near term. It is speculation that the regime will both survive and grow to be more of a threat than their previous trajectory.

"Quote from Iranian citizen: "I don't know anyone who was killed in the strikes. I know 22 people who were killed by the regime in January." How soon the Trump haters have forgotten. Let’s be clear: the Americans, Israelis aren't really interested in the plight of the Iranian people. They'd happily destroy the country almost beyond repair if it meant their hegemonic ch0kehold over the region was consolidated. The US & Israel for example were happy enough with the Shah before the Islamic Revolution because he was a yes man, though a yes man who liked to imprison, torture & kill his political opponents courtesy of his secret police, set up with US & Israeli help. Now I’m not suggesting the Shah was in the same league as the Mullahs in the absolute brutality league, but an angel he most certainly wasn’t. But the US & Israel were happy enough with him nevertheless. So yes. Freedom & democracy in Iran. That’s what the US & Israel are fighting for in 2026 first & foremost! Yeah, right.

"Less! Reason: The obvious! Degradation of arsenal, infrastructure and regime. Indiscriminate attacks on neighbouring countries will come back to haunt the Iranian regime, hopefully leaving it isolated enough to feel the impact of their actions. I find it interesting that an Iranian military spokesperson gives a macho speech and many, including the media outlets drive that narrative hard. What I have taken away from this conflict is cheerleader sidelining has elevated the propaganda machines to new heights. " It is quite breathtaking how the Iranian regime narrative is promoted while the US/Israeli one is treated with maximum septicism, and statements by the Gulf States supporting the action are largely ignored.
