I think so many people fail to understand where their food comes from that food insecurity doesn't cross their mind. It concerns me a lot for the short but especially long term future

All fule and energy is going up the cost of transport will have a much bigger impact to what a farm needs and what it produces.

Amazing how many different types of suppliers can find plausible excuses to jump on the price rise bandwagon!

I thought fertiliser came from South America, all of a sudden it comes from Iran, apparently.

Fertiliser is sourced globally, and a lot made in the uk with imported components

But the transportation costs:

Cost of fuel - cargo ship uses 60,000+ gallons a day

Marine insurance (as much as doubled)

Banks charging higher margins on invoice factoring and overdrafts

Uk haulage costs are higher - fuel costs

All this and more pushing up prices.

Remember as well farmers are locked into pricing deals with supermarkets. Squeezed both ends
