"if an animal is suffering its legal to put it down why exclude humans from that consideration " Because we always treated humans and animals differently. Most of the laws treat them differently. Humans might want to live through the suffering. Hence, consent is important.

"if an animal is suffering its legal to put it down why exclude humans from that consideration " You can own an animal. You can't leave something in you will for your pet, but you can leave your pet in your will. So we allready treat them differently in law.

"I guess the biggest problem is that it could be open to abuse from bad people exploiting vulnerable people. I mean they pretty much already do it anyway, dosing people up on morphine so they get pneumonia and nil by mouth. A very long drawn out undignified process, something I hope I never have to witness a loved one going through ever again. " Exactly this plus the person must have consented or declared a DNR in the event of an accident. Never an easy subject, but if the person has said "never ever let me suffer like this" its their wishes. Plus, sit someone in a room and watch the torture of starving a person to death. That may change minds on what is humane.

I can't speak for Cornucopia, only myself and it's a similar situation. Family are unaware of my last wishes (it's in my will, but it's identical to Cornucopia. No service or fuss. Crem). . That is assuming I get to that stage. I might get something lingering and terminal and decide to hop on a plane. Would have been Scotland, were it not for their recent vote. So probably Swiss or Belgium. I haven't decided yet if I'd inform anyone in advance. Part of me thinks it would be polite to let people know, the other part says, "imagine all the fuss, which you hate with a passion."

No children who I know about and nobody sufficiently close to need the aggro of arranging it all. Moved away geograhically from the family seat 60, years ago and there is very little of it left anyway. Nowadays there are many people who are not family. centric. Interestingly, I actually originate from Jersey, a community which has recently voted for assisted dying but when I've had enough here it won"t be practical to travel there. Far simpler to stop eating and turn the heating off. Bloody council rip me off monthly, they can sort things out when I go!

"For a hugely complex issue a card is beyond comprehension. Close thread" An omelette is only as complex as you want to make it. Incorporate it in existing donor card system. If you're on your last legs, donate and go for assisted dying. The choice is up to the individual. Personally I would tough it out to the very end painful and excruciating it may be. My last words would be "fuck you Ayatolah"

My last words would be "fuck you Ayatolah" " Please don't leave Trump out of the valediction or, should it be, malediction! In fact, if it was me, I'd probably include Reform as well, especially if they ditch the NHS while I still need it...
