With zero growth last month even before the oil price increases, and the growing attacks on ancient civil liberties and freedom of speech, can Britain afford another three years of Starmerism ?

Well it’s a good job Badenoch or Farage weren’t in charge. Both said we should be more involved in the war offensive and went on to backtrack.

Would they have dropped a few bombs and then said sorry?

What ancient civil liberties?

Uk population throughout history has been one of the most controlled and down trodden by the ‘ruling classes’ in whole of Europe.

And before you mention the Magna Carta, as most do, you better read up what it actually was.

136 local elections in eight weeks

Outcome will be interesting.

Seems all the UK's woes are always down to others, tories, Brexit, Putin, small boats, Trumps tariffs, blah

Let’s not forget that the Tories were still talking about the economy they inherited in 2010 under Sunak

I quite like what the Norwegians did with their fossil fuels income. Returns went to the nation in their sovereign wealth fund. We should have been doing something similar with the neoliberal approach followed instead. Our water industry allowed to become shit in the rivers and sea and money extracted overseas, etc.

We need to get the priorities right for the benefit of the masses

Needs complete change of system. Westminster is a disgrace of d*unk fools who vote on our lives late at night. Needs to be viable for normal people to be mo's and all countries have vetos. Changing this government will do little. The ones close to power will take growth to new lows, to feed a few rich. You need a different variety of cafes, backgrounds and gender etc to create a more real government. Not one full of ex solicitors, barristers and populist parties full of career politicians.

Every party says that during the campaign and then they reality of the task in hand hits the buffers of government..

I do wonder about the mindset of some who think the problems they all face on day one will be fixed overnight..

People dont want to know how bad it actually is and just how long it'll take then there's the mistakes they all make in office and 'events'..

We can order food in a jiffy and its here in 15, we can buy something on line and its here the next day, i dont know if such things play a part in people's thinking when they look at the NHS, cost of living, immigration etc but the trend of expectation and I want it now seems to be more prevalent in my lifetime..

No one on the left has ever given a Conservative PM a grace period or the benefit of the doubt for 5 minutes, and that's fine in tribal politics. But don't wet the bed when the Labour leader who promised change for the better delivers zero growth, highest ever illegal immigration and corruption running throughout his Govt. How do you like them lettuces?

Well you’re once again confusing me with someone who supports Starmer - which is incorrect, but at least get your facts right - the most illegal entrants to the UK occurred in 2017 (though exact figures are not known as govt’s don’t publish that data.

Do you think after the first year of the Tory government people didn't complain? Why is it wrong to complain about this government after 1 year? During that 14 years of Tory government labour constantly said how much better they would be yet now they are in office they are not even close to living up to their own promises

Tbf Labour could cure cancer and people would still find a way to find fault somehow. Such is tribal politics.

London

Our society is the way it is due to decades of poor decisions, corruption, greed, policies that hurt the working class and benefit the very wealthy, privatisation without oversight and many other problems.

Immigration has been a voting tool for more than a hundred years in these elections. Nothing new.

It's going to take more than a decade to fix the problems we have. No one party can do it as they won't be in power long enough to make the necessary changes and also adapt to ongoing issues. We do need fresh faces and bold ideas. We also need to stop meddling in the affairs of other countries, which includes selling weapons, training soldiers and offering our bases. We need local politicians who actually care about local problems. Not career politicians.

We also need to stop the divisions within our country which is fuelled by the government and mainstream media. Everyone who lives here, this is our country. Let's make it a better place to live in. It's ok to disagree. It doesn't make the other person completely evil, or wrong, or a muppet.

The right to a jury trial has not been withdrawn . It may happen in the future but the bill has only past the first reading in parliament . There’s plenty of time for it to be changed or U-turned on .

This is great in theory but it ignores the truism that some people (understandably) won’t work with others.

Someone who supports Rupert Lowe’s policy to financially reward citizens for reporting illegal immigrants - stasi style? I’m never going to work with them for ‘the greater good’ - why? Because our ideas of ‘the greater good’ are poles apart.

Can I get along with conservatives? Sure I can, and I do, regardless of our differences in opinion. But can I get along with someone who supports a totalitarian state? Someone who says ‘shoot the boats’? Someone who supports toxic masculinity or defends people like Andrew Tate? I’d rather shit in my hands and clap
