It seems like The United States Department of Justice withheld and prevented the release of several documents from the Epstein files that contained allegations of sexual assault of a minor by Trump

This is according to an investigation carried out by US media outlet NPR.

So an independent CNN review, found that several interviews with a woman who alleged that Trump had sexually assaulted her decades earlier when she was a minor are missing

The women's accusations may be untrue of course, but what else has been withheld

First time poster in this forum as threads here often get quite passionate. And it’s not the sort of passion we’re here for😂

It strikes me the revelations around Epstein and all those associated with him is summed up by “power corrupts”

The powerful - either through wealth, or social and political status, are able to get away with corrupt thoughts, deeds, habits, behaviours in any aspect of their life they choose.

And those ordinary folk who are associated with them because they work for them or with them get caught up in it because speaking up isn’t without consequences for them personally.

And to this poster at least, it feels like this Always has been, and sadly likely always will be.

Power, Wealth and Corruption are often bed fellows. Wealth, or the potential thereof, being a lever for the other two.

.

I believe that lever should be encouraged and rewarded if it swung the other way.

.

In other words, make it so financially attractive to report corruption, that no one could pass up the opportunity to do so.

.

Eg, a person has evidence their boss struck a corrupt deal with a supplier. Let's say 2 million quid.

.

They whistle blow, boss gets arrested, fined or imprisoned, and they (the whistleblower) get a 2 million quid reward. You could in theory double the amount to really tempt others to report.

.

Sure, the short term cost could be quite colossal as there could be a run on whistleblowers, but once the system beds down, I think you might find the long term cost through lost tax for example, would creep back up as honesty returns to the system.

.

In essence, flip the incentive gradient so hard, that silence becomes irrational.

(I am aware the US already operate the False Claims act (mostly in healthcare) where 15-30% of recovered funds go to the relator. The SEC also reward 10-30%.

.

My idea is not radical at all.

.

Corruption survives on mutual silence, fear and shared gain. So make betrayal more profitable than complicity. Weaponize self-interest against corruption.

.

The UK has been mulling similar schemes in the UK for years. (SFO, FCA, HMRC).

.

Actually in 2025 HMRC did introduce a Whistleblower Reward Scheme, which pays individuals between 15% and 30% of recovered tax in significant, high-value tax evasion or avoidance cases.

.

A step in the right direction, but more work is needed right across the board to implement this in all businesses, private or public.

And Trump was in power the previous 4 years

I'm pretty sure you'll find that Trump didn't volunteer to release them either despite (I'm fairly sure ) making it an election promise 🤷‍♂️

Why didn't Biden release them ? No idea but under the democrats the DOJ was an independent authority and there is some debate as to whether releasing them could have affected future investigations.

Either way, it seemed to take a court order and even them missed the deadline significantly.

Not sure why any of this smoke and mirrors explains the missing reports anyway but hey ho

So the judiciary is less independent under Trump but under Trump the files have been released?

People talk about these files as if they are kept in a secret safe by some evil conspiracy when of course they are all held by the appropriate legal authorities who have had many years to investigate and if necessary charge anyone involved in serious crime.

And the reason the Dems didn't want to release any files is because they know they're as vulnerable to accusations of guilt by association as Trump, if not much more so as Epstein was a Democrat supporter and Donor making large donations to Bill and Hilary Clinton in the 90s.

Democrats were not the ones who made such a song and dance giving a binder full of information to friendly media

I don't think the "Epstein files" were files kept by Epstein, isnt it a term used for all the files including his notes and information gathered during his prosecution.

As for the trump accusations you'd need to ask the FBI who interviewed her if it was part of the Epstein case or not.

I don't think the "Epstein files" were files kept by Epstein, isnt it a term used for all the files including his notes and information gathered during his prosecution.

I was under the impression that "the Epstein files" refers to the collection of stuff that was taken from his homes. Happy to be corrected if anyone knows for sure."

They are documents from many of the organisations involved in the Epstein investigations, court hearings, witness statements, accusations etc.

They have been given the name the Epstein files.

Republicans think it’s a case of “get trump”

Democrats actually are of the case of “get everyone! “

If that means bill gates, or Larry summers, or bill Clinton… I don’t care!

But hiding Trump, or musk or lutnick or any adjacent is what it looks like republicans and the DOJ are doing….

The DOJ is not trump’s personal law firm

And you may as well do it now whilst republicans can semi control the narrative…because when democrats next take control of either the house or senate, they are going to make life painful for Noem, bondi, Patel, and any Republican official

And republicans have opened Pandora’s box by threatening to hold bill Clinton in contempt if he doesn’t sit down in front of the committee…. Because they have now set the precedent of making a former president comply

I guess the problem with Department of Justice and the FBI, is they can't verify any of the info in the files as it kinda lands them in the shit for letting it ride and ignoring it in the first place. Kind of makes them culpable.

Huge embarrassment using tax payers money and not doing the job they're supposed to do.

It covers several administrations, this in turn helps Trump. He's saying who you calling guilty?

He's probably innocent and it's Hilary at her old tricks.
