Grimsby Auditorium has made "as a considerate gesture" to remove bacon and pork from its menu.

The theatre said it was committed to continually reviewing and enhancing its menu offerings, and would be removing all pork products during performances of Peppa Pig's Big Family Show on 3 and 4 March.

Jennifer White, from the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta), said she was "delighted" the theatre had instead agreed to sell vegan ham.

Instead shouldn’t children be made aware of the food chain and that their parents are feeding them with these friendly pigs who often given a poor life before slaughter ?

I’m not sure my 7yo granddaughter who has Down’s syndrome can make a distinction between killing plants and killing animals.

Vegans often talk about forcing meat eaters to tell their children about the food chain. I don’t hear much in the way of vegans telling their kids that they are killing plants. Everything we eat was once alive and with the exception of fruit and maybe sprouts (could be others I can’t think of right now, our eating means their death.

But with regards to the theatre in question, I’d say this is more about marketing than an ethical stance.

Took the grandniece and nephew to Peppa Pig World at Paulton's Park earlier this week. Bought a bag of locally produced pork scratchings at the snack bar. They were georgeous, not peppary at all!
