"A few years ago I seem to remember these forums being appalled when Boris recommended folk spend a few quid on a kettle and buy their tea and coffee at a supermarket. My nearest town consistently appears in the UK top 10 most deprived areas yet in town we’ve got every coffee shop chain you can think of plus numerous independents…and they’re busy. Apparently the food banks are busy too, so somewhere the math ain’t mathing 🤷♂️" I'd suggest both places have different clientele

Plus you could probably get coffee and cake at a similar price in Greggs

"My coffee at Starbucks costs about £4 I think. Prices have been steadily increasing well above inflation since the coffee shop boom started. My guess is they are testing the sweet spot where the price starts to deter purchases. " Bacon sausage egg in a stick with tea £6
