"Did Farage try to avoid stamp duty with his constituency home by putting it in his partner Laure Ferrari's name?" Probably. There’s probably a raft of other scams he’s running that benefit from it not being in his name.

"You accept a new job offer in a town miles away from where you live. The DEI department complain you don’t live locally and say it isn’t fair. Reluctantly, you decide to buy a house in the town because it seems the right thing to do, even though you already own one, and will only be living there for 5 years. Do you Buy it in your own name and pay higher stamp duty or Put it in your partner’s name and pay less stamp duty? " How is it a DEI issue?!

"This second home stamp duty needs binning, it was a Tory policy rolled out by Jeremy Hunt, which Reeves used as a cash cow to top the rate up to 5% premium. Ridiculous, and now more rumours of 0.51% annual fee on new transactions coming in the autumn statement. Governments are turning housing into a commodity. Selling off half of the country’s council housing and not replacing it, expecting developers to build social housing at a loss. Extra tax’s put on small landlords forcing them to sell so Lloyds and black rock can buy them up. Giving contracts to Mears, Serco and Clearsprings to offer above market rents to private landlords for asylum seekers, making long term tenant families homeless and pushing up rents. Companies house reports the fastest growing sector of incorporation’s is property companies trying scoot around these government policies " It's an easy target. Those who are driven by the politics of envy love to hear that people who like to spend any money they have left after paying HMRC are being taxed dearly for the pleasure.

"If they uncover anything which shows Farage is a hypocrite well quelle surprise. And if not, I’ll bet my balls not everyone connected to Reform UK is doing everything by the book anyway." In this case, what Farage is accused of is indeed "by the book". It might not be morally defensible, but it is legally permitted. Sadly for Rayner, what she did was not legal, and definitely not "by the book".

"Did Farage try to avoid stamp duty with his constituency home by putting it in his partner Laure Ferrari's name?" Probably…. But you know…. Hypocrite gonna hypocrite The story about the rich French family….. ooooh… not quite as rich as he claimed and certainly not rich enough to afford to pay an 850k mortgage outright…. So yeah… smells like a tax dodge

"Latest poll from Find Out Now: RFM: 34% (+2) LAB: 19% (=) CON: 15% (-2) LDM: 12% (-1) GRN: 12% (+1) SNP: 2% (=) Of five local elections declared yesterday Reform gained three from Labour, and one from Tories. Maybe Labour and its supporters should try better to understand what the electorate is concerned about and deal with it. Instead they continue to “bark up the wrong tree” with this guff." I'd prefer truth from a party. I don't view Farage as a decent, honest person and likely to say anything to get what he wants. His comments about his Clacton property seems to back up his affinity for deceit

Where does this leave the morality of 80,000 landlords incorporating their properties to circumvent the impact of section 24. There were 4.5 million private rented homes, research suggests 97% of landlords own less than three properties, hardly tax evading property magnets Labour would have us believe they are. Recent research shows now 2.81 million private rented homes in private ownership, so assumedly 1.7 million have been incorporated allowing the owners to claim mortgage interest, by the book. Do Farages critics think all these incorporations should be disallowed.

That's unlikely to be "by the book". If they have a personal buy-to-let mortgage, they wouldn't be able to transfer the property to a company without re-mortgaging. I doubt they've all done that.

Exactly that, a remortgage to ltd My point tho was it’s legal restructuring of affairs to reduce tax liability.

"Did Farage try to avoid stamp duty with his constituency home by putting it in his partner Laure Ferrari's name?" Only read a bit on this. Seems he is not in trouble for breaking rules or anything illegal, but more the fact he seems to have changed his story at least once and some explanations, although possible seem unlikely

There don't seem to be going away, but they also don't seem to be gaining much traction. "Man of the people plays the system whilst being a hypocrite" Can you quote something Nigel has said that condemns tax avoidance?
