"Most crimes and violence against women are carried out by a partner or someone they know. THIS IS VERY BAD. Some live on Social benefits. Poverty is a factor. " Was that a question or a statement?

"The number of sexual assaults by strangers is about 10%, the rest are known to each other.. According to the stats available.." Is that conviction statistics or total sexual assaults?

"If you look at the SafeLives website, they have data on domestic abuse incidents and crimes. Incidents would be a verbal argument, with no criminal damage or injury, therefore no crime committed." So arguing with your partner now counts as domestic abuse?

So arguing with your partner now counts as domestic abuse?" Has done a while. It's recorded as a domestic incident. Another example would be a reported breach of bail, perceived by the victim, but no breach has legally occurred.

"I have seen this statement being thrown around. But it's much more complicated than that. Domestic abuse - Obviously by people who know the victim Murder - Also, mostly by people who know the victim and this isn't different for men either. Sexual assault - This is where news articles can be misleading. If you dig deeper, you will see that their argument is based on convictions and not the total number of assaults. As only 2.6% of sexual assaults even lead to a charge, using conviction numbers is seriously biased because sexual assaults where the victim knows the criminal are more likely to lead to a charge. I would bet all my money that in most of the remaining cases, the criminal is not known to the victim." The number of victims who will not support police action for fear of repercussions by the perpetrator is staggering. Hence one of the reasons charge rates and convictions of known offenders is so low.

Eight women a month are killed by a current or ex partner in England and Wales.

Eight women a month are killed by a current or ex partner in England and Wales. " I think my post clarified that. There are multiple types of violence towards women. In case of domestic violence, you are not really getting any new insights because domestic violence is obviously committed by someone the victim knew. Sexual assault, not so much. Number of domestic assaults reported in UK per year is 900,000 and the number of sexual assaults is 1.1 million. Both are different kind of issues. So why shouldn't I focus on sexual assaults here as domestic violence done by someone known to the victim is a given?

R@pe Crisis lists from where it gets its data. " I would say it's based on conviction rates only because if you haven't convicted someone, you can't use any information on the characteristics of the criminal. Only 2.6% of sexual assaults lead to a charge, let alone conviction. Not to mention, r@pes only count for 36% of sexual assaults. So the data we have is biased and doesn't give us any insights about the issue.

So, why are we so frightened of people in dinghies of it's uncle Gary who's most likely to abuse us or our partner who's most likely to beat us?

And I've yet to see any data of the demographics of the victims of these rampant migrants. Immigrants. Asylum seekers. Refugees. Whatever the hell they are!

"I mean asylum seekers are only 4% of total migrants to this country, so they themselves are vanishingly rare let alone the crime they commit " Absolutely! We are over-run by these, these, these...... people seeking safety. I did like that when a planned 'gathering' took place at Dover, not one dinghy arrived. Border Force redirected them elsewhere! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
