In unsurprising news Elon Musk has left his role in the Trump Administration, having achieved very limited success in cutting Govt 'waste'.

Is this a victory for the blob or did Musk over promise and under deliver ?

He's probably achieved what he wanted, which may be different from what had been said. His businesses may be net winners from the state being cut down.

I thought his role was time limited to 130 days.

To be fair I have no idea how he copes with all the stuff he has to do.

I think he's spread himself too thin, Tesla definitely needs more attention.

Not sure how much he achieved. There were loads of instances on fb where billions of wasted dollars were highlighted.

I would imagine the US federal budget is not a 2 page document and much digging would be required to get to the truth of a lot of spending. The guy also has businesses to run, one of which is being literally attacked on a seemingly daily basis.

Don’t know enough about it and don’t think many this side of the pond are affected by it.

He has wasted his time

Tesla sales down 87% in Canada and 49% in Europe. Must have cost him tens of billions.

Yeah lots of lost sales. I know what was said and what he was accused of but I didn’t see the pic/video. It doesn’t affect me and I’d never have bought a Tesla anyway. Must have cost a lot of people their jobs

The actual role he had was always time limited.

Yes, the concession about being a “special government employee” and not having to get senate confirmation is that it is time limited to 130 days, which ended on Friday!

The more juicy stuff is the “situation” surrounding musk, and the Miller’s….

Looks like Stephen miller has a proper excuse to hate immigrants now!!!

He wasn't likely there for the USA. His space and other government business will likely not face cutbacks, unlike the government departments subject to DOGE cuts, is my best guess

"Popcorn is well and truly out for the next couple of days. "

You knew it was going to blow up… just on principle

Musks general point is that it’s not worth DOGE saving 2 trillion dollars (it’s not saving anywhere near that figure… probably 200-300 million tops ) if the trump budget bill is going to add 3 trillion dollars (according to congress own office of budget responsibility) to the US national debt…

Whatever it is …. it delivers a stunning indictment of how immature and dystopian US politics has sunk. Populism at its worst demonstrating how without robust governance and accountability to society as a whole, politics plummets into the depths of feeding individual interests and elitist greed.

It’s the game of chicken being played right now that is so funny…

Trump… I’m taking away the EV subsidies and your government contracts

Musk… fine, you know those contracts spaceX has with NASA , we will stop those! All the defence contracts the US use starlink for… yep! Them as well!!

Now musk is throwing trumps name around with Epstein…. It’s comedy gold!

It’s immaturity and mindlessness at its very worst…… and absolutely no benefit whatsoever to US society
