Amazing!

The police (and BBC) are now very quick to release information on the colour and geographical background of a car ramming suspect. Less than two hours. Some kind of record, surely?

Different looking people receive different types of attention from police/authorities. Positive and negative.

Being stopped and searched isn't the only kind of discrimination.

How long, bearing in mind messages travel at the speed of light (300 million metres per second), would you like the police (and BBC) to wait?

Time for you to eat your boiled egg tea, manicure your nails, or something else?

I'm surprised anyone is amazed that in order to quell the type of stuff that led to the events after the Southport murders the authorities have learned the lessons from then..

Apparently there was similar falsehoods online straight away with this incident..

I hope you are right. If so things will now follow their usual course:

Organise a vigil

Sing kumbaya, maybe some Oasis songs

Say “diversity is our strength” a lot

Politicians visit a few Church of England churches to make sure the “community” isn’t feeling threatened.

Claim that culprit has “mental health issues”

Jail some Muslims for a few years for spouting off on Twitter.

Story buried in 48 hours.

It’s sadly no surprise how quickly this thread moved away from the OP’s actual observation to questioning their motives.

When did it become hostile to question the sudden shift in how quickly and how much information is released?

Are people really so blind to the fact that the timing and detail of information from the police and media is managed?

Maybe lessons learned from the Southport tragedy?!

Perhaps it would be better, and more transparent, if police forces and the media publish demographic information about ALL alleged offenders. Might not be so sensationalist, though. 🤷

Errm the elephant in the room, how the feck did a vehicle owned or rented by a member of the public get in a cordoned off zone. Bearing in mind the amount vehicle hitting crowds of people, have occurred.

Seems to me there's been a cock up in policing the event.

Will be interesting to see if heads will roll with this one I think.

it took less than 15mins for far right social media posts on the incident to start appearing blaming "illegal boat people" of carrying out another terrorist attack. that is probably nowhere near the record for these kind of scumsuckers to start spread their false hate propaganda.

Dickhead who'd had a few beers thinking he can get home quicker by driving through the crowd then throws a tantrum because they started kicking his car. Bet your last fiver on it.

Seen similar (minus the tantrum) so many times when leaving football grounds.

It wasn't an 'attack' in the context you've pointed out whereby vehicles have been used to deliberately kill and injure..

Yes of course the injuries caused yesterday are as equally horrendous as those we've seen in other countries..

This having already been ruled as not the same as them looks (with the little we know) different and time will tell us more ..

Thoughts are with the people and their families injured..

As with anything language is important..

I’m not saying news can’t be biased, it nearly always is. But if all the police have said is “we arrested a 53yo white make at the scene” than the news can’t say “it’s not believed to be the driver”. Nor can they say “the driver of the vehicle was a 53yo white male”

I think their wording shows quite clearly that the police haven’t said if he was the driver or not. Which suggests he wasn’t as they would surely say if he was. But obviously far from definitive.

I saw a video on fb of a white male, looked early 50s, being arrested on the passenger side of the vehicle (assuming it was a r/h drive). With hundreds of people trying to kill the driver, there’s no way they would carry him about 20 yards to the far side of the car and only have 3 coppers around him. So that person is definitely not the driver. But is also not necessarily the person mentioned in the news.

They will need more time to question the driver so he’ll all but certainly be in a magistrate’s court later today. But again I’m gonna guess that a lot more can be read into what’s not said than by what is. Closed session, rear entrance, hooded for his own safety. Much better to be clear from the start, regardless of their skin colour

The police ignored so many own goals, people were there and witnessed the awful events, that led to online speculation that spread like wildfire. The media were updating the story every minute with ifs, buts and maybes which left the door wide open for influencers to fill in the gaps. Once the full picture was known and that wasn't for another 3 months, it was clear the police had stumbled on evidence that linked the killer to online terrorist materials. They didn't know how to manage this information, which encouraged speculation.

The same force has handled this incident very well, we can't turn the clock back but lets hope that all other forces learn from this.

Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Sims and partners spoke at tonight's press conference following the incident on Water Street in Liverpool city centre:

ACC Sims: "Firstly, my thoughts are with all those injured in tonight’s horrific incident, their families and friends, and all those affected by the terrible tragedy that has taken place today......

"The car stopped at the scene and a 53-year-old white British man from the Liverpool area was arrested. We believe him to be the driver of the vehicle.

"Extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances leading up to the collision and it is vital that people do not speculate or spread misinformation on social media.

"I know that people will understandably be concerned by what has happened tonight.

"What I can tell you is that we believe this to be an isolated incident and we are not currently looking for anyone else in relation to it.

"The incident is not currently being treated as terrorism.

"We would ask that people refrain from sharing distressing footage from the incident online and please share any information directly with our investigation team. Information, including video footage, can be passed on via the Major Incident Police Portal (MIPP) - https://orlo.uk/XYmtR

"In the lead up to this event we have been working closely with event organisers and a robust traffic management plan was put in place for the parade which included a number of road closures throughout the route and the city centre.

"We will provide any further updates as soon as we have them."

That’s great, but “believe to be the driver”?

There would have been dozens of witnesses and dozens of cameras including cctv. Yes it takes time to review statements and video footage, but with this many people in such a confined space there would have been cops everywhere, as demonstrated buy how many were on the scene within a minute.

If the driver was dragged out the vehicle for a kicking, those around him would all be after the same guy? They need to move quickly from “we believe” to a definitive statement.

The last thing we need is more riots or more cover ups. We need the truth, no matter what that truth may be.

How has the car gotten to this location in the first place? And who tries to dive through a crowd of people, even at walking pace?

I seriously doubt it’s terror or football related tho.

Agree on the last point..

The online speculation initially was purely about spreading hate and division and that worked for many reasons which infect ours and other societies, some yes where authority has ignored or tried to play down the realities we all see and have experienced..

Instead of looking at the causes it's easier to scapegoat which again is a trusted tool of the manipulation again which historically has bad outcomes for some who are not to blame collectively..

I agree 100%….. but my point was with the amount of witnesses, cctv, people with cameras, police presence, it should be easy to very quickly make a determination. And it’s in the public interest to do so.

And I’ll say again, what we don't need is more riots or more cover ups.

The reason they had to get it out so quickly is that the likes of Tommy Robinson yet again were very quick to get out a narrative based on what had been seen

Black and brown people don’t get the benefit of the “mental health “ excuse, right up until an actual judge says so in the summing up of court cases… and even then, people want to believe

And yet in the last 12 hrs I have heard, “ he doesn’t look 53” “he wasn’t the driver” “he had a heart attack” “he had a mental health issue “

If by getting out the person is white British and it stops the knuckle dragging people using it as an excuse to attack innocent people… I’m all for that!

If Merseyside police have learnt that and use this going forward, then good!

I have looked across many platforms for anything Tommy Robinson has said about the incident in Liverpool, I can't find anything directly from him. Where did you see his narrative, or better still what did he say?

There is an interesting article on the BBC news website about why Merseyside police released the alleged culprit's age and race so quickly which was obviously to prevent a news vacuum being filled by the right wing haters.

However the article makes the point what would have happened if the culprit had been an illegal immigrant?

They have now set a precedent. Any delay in the future will have something read into it. That's why, going forward, there needs to be transparency and potentially hard communications. Police forces and the government need to learn to manage it. Leadership needs to give confidence.

There should be some nuance around statements like that.

Funny how the BBC can ask this question, but when someone mentions it on a swinging website, it suddenly points to all kinds of ulterior motives.

That was my thinking lol

So all we need to do, assuming these figures are accurate, is remove the 10% that commit 90% of the crime from society and do this as cheaply as possible

Just seen some more of the footage. Looks more and more like some idiot trying to get home and thought he'd sneak through behind an ambulance. He's literally crawling speed and people start hitting his car.

Not defending his actions but hardly ploughing into the croud. How many fatalities so far, and what kind of injuries? Kids probably caught up in the crush, poor beggars.

He drove his car into people deliberately. The reasons for doing so will be discovered during the investigation. Those reasons won’t change what it was - an attack with a motor vehicle.

50 people were hospitalised, 11 still in hospital.

Police have said a 53 year old male suspect has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, dangerous driving offences, and driving while unfit through drugs.

However you look at it, a car has been used to drive into people.

I've only seen this story on the BBC, and this morning the headline was "car ploughs into crowd", which very much does bring to mind recent terrorist actions. The headline now calls it "Liverpool crash", which is a bit less inflammatory, but still misleading.

Bedfuck

It reminded me of the two British Army guys accidentally driving into an IRA funeral procession and trying to escape.

Watch the footage on YouTube, it's not far off. Unfortunately the outcome was bad too.

I was trapped in my car back in the 80's on a Saturday afternoon surrounded by football fans coming out of a ground. We weren't told not to drive in the area of the ground. Nothing happened but we definitely felt intimidated the outcome could have been worse and could have been avoided if we were directed elsewhere by police.

I read that too and was thought provoking. I guess we are not used to getting details so quickly but given the recent past I feel they done the right thing. However the downside is any, God forbid, future incidents. As the report mentions, what happens if the police are not sure who they are, where they are from etc etc. Also if they find out just as quickly they are an asylum seeker fed up waiting for a decision or through some religious belief decided to attack, will the police quickly release that information. Unfortunately now any delay in releasing information will play into the hands of those that seek to spread disinformation. Hopefully we never have it put to the test

Saying things like you do is horrible really. Saying 'Kids probably caught up in the crush, poor beggars'... is the same sort of tactics that shite rag used when lying about LFC fans at Hilsborough. You saying probably means you have no clue how those kids got injured. I have, I've seen the videos of them bouncing of the car as it accelerated at speed into the crowd. A deliberate act. By saying what you are saying it's as if you are blaming the fans for causing the 'crush' that injured these kids, again reminiscent of the scandalous reporting of Hillsborough. You should apologise to these involved and watch the videos again. If this happened outside your kids primary school, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't see it the same way your trying to describe it. These people were deliberately plowed down. The car accelerated at speeds high enough to throw grown adults through the air. The crowd didn't crush anyone, his fucking car did though, scandalous what you're saying, Mrs x

Why compare this incident to Hillsborough? Why not compare it to Heysel? Or did that not happen?

This is a very different incident. This latest incident has happened away from the stadiums and the reason behind it still unknown . To start banding Hillsborough around and using as some way of trying to shame someone with a different opinion to you is tiresome and insulting to the innocent people who perished there. Speculation, finger pointing and blame will not help the families affected by this latest incident.

"

Why compare this incident to Hillsborough? "

Because the post being responded to appears to be suggesting that LFC fans are at fault and a resulting "crush" injured kids. And suggests that the car was not (mostly) responsible (i.e. it's all the fault of some hooligan fans). While it's still early days, the complete footage appears to suggest a different narrative than the one suggested by that poster (car only drive at a crawl).

The incident is, indeed, very different. Placing (or implying) the blame at the feet of the fans has chilling echoes.

"Would his details have been as quickly and clearly defined if he was a black muslim man from an overseas culture? Equal treatment???"

This has already been explained in he media. After the awful incident in Southport, recommendations were made that police forces supply a little more information to fill the void to prevent unhelpful and, potentially, inciteful, language being used online and by the media. It's not a one glove fits all response though. There will be cases when there simply isn't enough information known to be released.

That's what Merseyside Police has done on this occasion. They have released some demographic information to prevent unhelpful narratives to be spread.

That is one of the potential scenarios the BBC highlighted and say could be seen by some as withholding information. I think the problem they envisage is an information vacuum in which people with ill intent will quickly fill. As I said in my first post I feel the police acted well given the recent past. However that could have unintentional repercussions in the future as highlighted by the BBC

There will always be people who speculate and/or create a false narrative, no matter what information is released.

At least if the details of an asylum seeker, as one of the examples cited, is released, it might prevent the frenzy that was created previously. People will still use the information to stir up hatred, but if it's against the backdrop of many more white/British suspects, it dilutes the picture somewhat. The press can't sensationalise as easily, either.

"Just seen some more of the footage.

Its the way headlines are trying to make it look like an attack? What is their game?

Speculation, finger pointing and blame will not help the families affected by this latest incident."

I'm banding the untruths reporting on Hillsborough not the tragic event itself, learn to read. Saying the car didn't plow into people or made its way at a crawl are nothing but lies, similar to what happened at Hillsborough.

Heysel has nothing to do with lies. That was awful and sadly LFC fans were very much involved.

So hopefully you can understand the comparison, it's about lies, something sadly LFC fans have had levelled at them before.

That car plowed at speed into the crowd, it did not crawl. Fans did not injure the kids in a crush, all untrue.

Mrs x

The police always protect each other, Hillsborough is just one example. Yes there are prosecutions when there’s insurmountable evidence of serious crimes, but even when caught on video beating up members of the public, violating their civil rights, illegal searches, illegal detainment, racial profiling etc, there’s no action taken.

I was reading about one only a couple of days ago where someone had shouted at a copper for not arresting his neighbour who had nicked stuff from him, all caught on cctv which the copper refused to look at. Within the hour the victim was assaulted and forcibly strip searched and sexually assaulted in a cell. All caught on camera. Let out 22 hours later with no charges.

CPS refused to bring a criminal prosecution and professional standards described it as “a misunderstanding”. After years of denials and obstructions, they settled out of court, I believe literally the day before the court date. £20k with no admission of liability

I watched an interesting post the other day, where someone not linked to the police was saying how police officers and forces are vilified for one of their own committing offences SA, child abuse etc, but other professions tend to "hide" such instances, and if they do get to the media, it's not nearly so sensationalised. They were talking about professions such as education, social work and health. These are also professions where the individuals are responsible for vulnerable people, and hold a higher level of responsibility.

It seems as though the police are damned if they do and damned if they don't, know matter which angle you look from.

I can anticipate some responses to this.

I'm not disagreeing with the points you make, whilst recognising the responsibilities other professions have regarding safeguarding etc the very obvious difference is the police have taken a sworn oath to act and be of the highest standards and they are essentially the enforcement of the laws of the land..

Plus there's the whole public service wearing an easily identified uniform, which others who also have or do wear will testify that when in the public eye on duty one is under a bit more scrutiny ..

Which I agreed with when doing so,the responsibility when wearing it and the damage that can be caused if one pratts about goes with the job and should be avoided..

If other professions screw up, the police are called in. The police are the final stop for criminal behaviour (only judges are higher in this hierarchy). Their whole job is preventing crimes. Other professions have a different primary goal, with safeguarding as a part of the role. This is why abuse by police officers has a special level of scrutiny.

Unless the press release says something along the lines of 'The current information is unclear, but all information is being assessed and will be released once the facts have been established. Speculation at this point is unhelpful and we would appreciate the public's patience to enable us to carry out our enquiries without prejudice, which could hinder a potential prosecution'. "

And a statement like that would be brilliant!

Probably is them the likes of Robinson and Tate and farage then start speculating to fill the narrative… and conspiracy theories that information is being withheld…

Buy key information about Southport was withheld, in particular the discovery of ricin and Islamic terrorism material which must have been known by the police and Government almost immediately. Even the murderer's mug shot was withheld while pictures of them as a young child were widely distributed.

You can trust the government and the mainstream media not to invite violence in communities against one group whenever there's incidents like on Monday and in Southport etc but on social media the very quick misleading information and incitement to violence is becoming common place..

Funnily enough there never seems to be the same rabble rousing when there's a group of white people who have committed vile abuse and get rightly convicted..

Almost like double standards based upon the colour of the perpetrators..

This was the ball that was dropped. Who provided that photo for media use? It was instantly seen as a cover up and not releasing the other information played straight into Farage's hands.

It absolutely is true. The mugshot of Axel Rudakubana makes him look like a lunatic. If the jury had seen that photograph before the trial, there would have been a significant risk of them forming pre-conceived ideas about his motives.

Perish the thought a mass child killer looked like a lunatic.

The police hold the copyright for mugshots and choose to withhold them until conviction, as a matter of policy not law. If that photo had been in private hands there is no law to stop it being released.

The police are usually instructed not to release mugshots, specifically because it risks prejudicing a jury.

You're correct that there's no law to prevent an identical photo being released, but cases have been dismissed in the past because information has been released to the public which meant that the defendant couldn't get a fair trial.

Even before he plead guilty the case against Axel Rudakubana was overwhelming. The idea any photo would have affected the outcome of the trial is fanciful; clearly the photos of him as a sweet child were promoted for policy reasons.

For him, the case was overwhelming. But releasing the mugshot would have served no purpose, and it could have prejudiced a jury. A confident barrister might have advised him not to plead guilty, which would have dragged the whole thing out for longer.

The papers print pictures of the defendant as a child because they know they can get away with that without a judge citing them for contempt.

"Hopefully it will set the standard for all future cases.

Unless we have two tier policing…..

There is an interesting article on the BBC news website about why Merseyside police released the alleged culprit's age and race so quickly which was obviously to prevent a news vacuum being filled by the right wing haters.

However the article makes the point what would have happened if the culprit had been an illegal immigrant?

I read that too and was thought provoking. I guess we are not used to getting details so quickly but given the recent past I feel they done the right thing. However the downside is any, God forbid, future incidents. As the report mentions, what happens if the police are not sure who they are, where they are from etc etc. Also if they find out just as quickly they are an asylum seeker fed up waiting for a decision or through some religious belief decided to attack, will the police quickly release that information. Unfortunately now any delay in releasing information will play into the hands of those that seek to spread disinformation. Hopefully we never have it put to the test

The press can't sensationalise as easily, either. "

Unfortunately there are people that will spread disinformation but even more unfortunately the precedent now set will give those same people even more opportunity to fill the vacuum left with their own version of events and do their nasty work. The article also posses the scenario that an attack happens and the police quickly identify the perpetrator only instead of being white British they have recently arrived illegally on a small boat. Do the police release that information in 2 hours or do they not reveal those details. Either way it could be a problem. No easy answers I'm afraid

That is where an understanding of the law would help….

The reason why there was not a mugshot was because the at that point accused was under 18 at the time of the offence!

The reason why we didn’t find out about the charges in relation to ricin until court time was probably to prevent copycats, and also just to make sure he was working alone rather than a group!

Again yes ricin was found, yes terror material was found, you omit to tell people he also had material in relation to the effect the ricin had on the Tokyo underground system

He had produced enough ricin to kill hundreds if that had been released on the London Underground for example.. which looked like that was his original intention

I notice that a newspaper has 'revealed' that the driver is a middle class company director living in a cul de sac and has well mannered children.

These revelations, coupled with skilled lawyers should provide sufficient teflon to deal with the attemted murder charge.

If the current theory is correct, then there won't be an attempted murder charge. Murder requires premeditation, and it seems that this bloke wasn't intending to kill anyone.

Surely rioting usually occurs after people from one group attack people from another group.

Whites kill blacks or blacks kill whites... One Eastern religion mills another... Christians kill...people on crusades?

Black on black violence rarely causes riots. Why should white on white? Unless he's from a rival club...

Are you disappointed there was no rioting for some reason? I'm not defending the bastard at all, but he didn't kill anyone. It's not as though he went on a rampage with a knife and deliberately targeted and slaughtered white children or strapped on a backpack and killed kids at a pop concert.

Are you disappointed there was no rioting for some reason? I'm not defending the bastard at all, but he didn't kill anyone. It's not as though he went on a rampage with a knife and deliberately targeted and slaughtered white children or strapped on a backpack and killed kids at a pop concert."

Perhaps some are disappointed that there has not been a repeat of the 2011 riots that followed the killing of Mark Duggan, or some of the BLM riots seen across the pond?

Having been on duty in the capital at that time (and on previous unrest) I can sincerely say I'm not disappointed in any way shape or form there hasn't been any this time..

But I shall wager that the next time and sadly it will happen some piece of excrement carries out an attack and they are not white there will be some knock on against other innocent members of society just because they are not white..

Or slaughtered a soldier in the middle of the street. Or threw flares and bottles at police in London because a black person was killed by white police in the US.

I would also wager that if a white piece of excrement carries out an attack that specifically targets little black girls there will be riots.

I really don't understand why some people are trying to insinuate some kind of racism because there has been no rioting on this occasion. It's a very sad indictment of how some people think.

And your post concerning an attack not in the UK was ridiculously unbalanced, considering the discussion is centred on the UK, but probably only because it was a white perpetrator. Racism, which ever way it goes, is not acceptable. I'm sure you agree.

Worse since what point?

Perhaps it's not worse, it might just be changing as demographics and times are changing. Brits are fundamentally more tolerant, certainly at an institutional level, then ever before. Even if you want to call Reform a racist movement, it has nothing on the truly racist political movements of the last century.

But the face of racism is changing, certainly.

Just because we don’t see Brixton riots regale doesn’t mean that racism isn’t there.

I’d definitely argue that racism has got worse since 2010. Its proliferation on social media is a key indicator.

For me it has improved since my parents early days here and improved again since my childhood. Its obviously only my personal perspective based on my experiences but I think this is one of the best places to be. I find more problems when traveling abroad.

Seeing the footage it's easy to see how a veteran could have flashbacks, especially when under influences of drugs or alcohol.

It's a valid point, whilst it doesn't excuse his actions it may be used as mitigation..

Imagine social media in the 1950s, or 1930s, though... When the Overton window for even mainstream media allowed all kinds of racism.

Good to see a current photo of the suspect being used and not one from when he was 12. I'm sure this will be standard practice from now on.

I've learned to disregard Fabio's 'expertise' on most issues given his track record of getting things completely wrong, as in this case. Reporting restrictions were lifted on the case due to both the seriousness of the offenses and that Axel Rudakubana was due to turn 18 shortly after being charged.

You've seemed to have changed your mind.

Previously he drove at walking speed, didn't plough through the crowd, was moving at a crawl. None of which seem to indicate 'flashbacks'.

But now he's an ex Marine this may explain his lunatic behaviour? No chance, what about all the hundreds of thousands of ex servicemen who choose not to weaponise their vehicles due to the trauma they witnessed. It's no excuse, he was intoxicated and made some awful decisions. Intoxication is no defense under the law.

He should get the book thrown at him. His car had to be lifted off four poor victims who were trapped under his car. Did they just lay down in front of his 'crawling' car and wait for it to drive over them. Maybe that's it, maybe the victims all suffered from some sort of Lemming syndrome and hurled themselves at this car, whilst it made its way gently through this unruly mob.

Yeah changed your mind but not your attitude, Mrs x

And if he *was* under the influence of drugs or alcohol we shouldn’t be granting him any degree of sympathy. Regardless of PTSD or anything else.

So again you answered your own question

Due to the seriousness of the offence reporting restrictions were lifted shortly after being charged!!

And yet you decided to take a shot at me for knowing the law for knowing that someone under 18 at the time of an offence is treated as a juvenile until otherwise

For fuck sake!!! I shall not answer any questions unless you see fit!!

You know better than that!

For fuck sake!

What about all the other ex servicemen at the parade? None of them suffered 'flashbacks', whilst being pushed and pulled by a throng of strangers or when seeing flares being set off, hearing the explosions from the almost constant barrage of fireworks or the smell of gunpowder from said fireworks. Why didn't they try to injure anyone? I'm not saying PTSF isn't a thing but the guy was sat in his car, out of the poor weather, not being physical touched by strangers, out of earshot from any explosions, yet he might be able to mitigate his actions because he might have PTSD.

This from a guy, who's a successful business man, living in a nice part of town and able to keep his shit together to live this lifestyle.

The fact that he found himself in a crowd of people was totally foreseeable, he drove towards a parade estimated to be over a million people. What was he expecting, that they'd all have managed to fuck off home before he got there, that the streets would be empty. For bucks sake, he followed an ambulance to get where did did, that's enough in itself to indicate there may have been some trauma ahead.

He has no excuse, he made his decisions deliberately and they were wrong. Yes he was intoxicated but that's no excuse, even more reason not to drive.

If he has any decency about himself he should plead guilty to all offences.

Please stop trying to find excuses for his horrid behaviour, what he did was totally wrong with no excuses,

Mrs x

Sorry just say the post you were quoting about and that's the one I should have quoted too.

Find it incredible that anyone can try to excuse or mitigate such abominable behaviour.

Once again im sorry I misquoted I know you posted along similar lines to myself.

Dear RAJMLK

This is where I can point at two very high profile cases in the last couple of years

A white shooter went into a buffalo New York supermarket and shot 10 black people dead… he specifically targeted the black and did not shoot at one white customer…

No riot after…..

Or how about Dylan Roof, who specifically targeted a black church which was having a prayer session, they invited him in …. He killed 9

Famously when he was only the run and about to catch him , police allowed him to get a burger before taking him in!!

Unfortunately… no riot in that one either

So back to Southport….

Even you have to admit that misinformation spread by some people caused the riots.. unless you are claiming that the misinformation of the person being an asylum seeker, and people trying to burn down a hotel which had asylum seekers in it was just purely coincidental

"Hopefully it will set the standard for all future cases.

Unless we have two tier policing…..

Of course there is two tier policing… how many times you been stopped and searched?

As a very senior police officer said "Why spend 90% of our resources stopping the 10% who have likely done nothing while ignoring the 10% of the population who commit 90% of the crime?"

If 10% commit 90% of crime and 10% have done nothing wrong, what’s the other 80%?"

Numbers not your strong point then?
