Inflation up reported yesterday.

Today the UK private sector reported shrinking as firms cut jobs. (For balance 0.7% Q1 gdp increase)

And government borrowing jumps to £20.2bn ( £17.8bn forecasted)

Black hole getting bigger.

Who’s going to be targeted for more tax or austerity cuts.

My guess would be that Labour will target everyone who has got any money, with the exception of public sector workers and trade union members.

Expect a particular focus on Labour's pet hate groups:

Pensioners

People who work in the private sector

Successful business people

People who have bothered saving and investing.

There are only 2 options available, break the fiscal rules Reeves imposed on herself, or tax working people.

Both of these will go against their pledges so I expect the u-turn on winter fuel allowance is specifically to explain away broken pledges.

I also expect the circus of ridiculous explantations to be in town as ring masters Starmer and Reeves trot out what a working person is again.

Pensioners cannot fight back. Easy target.

No, there's a 3rd option, one I've told you and many on this forum many times. It is the only one that will work to reduce national debt and raise living standards.

Uk needs a trillion £ of spare cash

Nhs and public services

Council houses x half a million

Military and nato

Climate commitment to Paris accord

Police and prisons; to name just a few

Add £2.8trn in debt already and £319 million a day servicing it. I’m struggling to see where anyone of any political party is going to find this amount of cash.

All of that negativity, shall just throw it in then and down tools, everyone. Not that I don't agree with the severity of what you're saying, it's true.

I'm struggling to find a political party with the minerals to do what needs to be done. So I understand why it's difficult for you or anyone to see where they find the money, but it's not impossible.

I held reservations before being hopeful on their pre election promises that were clear that they were going to action straight away. Unfortunately they are like all politicians and have reneged their promises with the "dead cat" strategy and now everyone has forgotten about it while it's been brushed under the carpet.

My guess is they will increase the higher rates of income tax, because anyone who pays that is not a “working person”. Also they think every business makes more money than Amazon so don’t rule out corporation tax increases.

The public sector pay rounds are coming soon too so a winter of discontent wouldn’t be a surprise.

We have migrants complaining their hotels ain’t up to scratch as well and they’ll wanna fix that as a priority.

If they can kill off a few more pensioners and disabled people, the migrants can have their homes

You can add the people who thought about their retirement years and all the government messages urging then to save for their retirement in pension schemes. Seems that they are "rich " having done so and need to pay more tax .

It gets worse. Having run out of money themselves to waste on pointless “investments” Labour will effectively be forcing pension funds to invest in British projects, ie Miliband's crazy net zero nonsense which will no doubt absolutely tank.

So even if people are investing they won’t be getting the returns they should be because the government is directing the money to suit its own ends rather than the interests of the investors.

There is not going to be any such thing as “your money”. You will just be temporarily holding it until the government wants it.

For me it's also about getting people back in to work,

Cut benifits,

Rase the tax threshold, so low earners keep what they earn, then rase paye to take more,

And hope you can cut the welfare budget.

Look no further than 'soft' targets:-

Pensioners

Savers

Property owners

Small businesses

Middle incomer earners

All the above and more are in the firing line, through pure ambiguity.

As Starmer said, a working person is someone who goes out to earn a living, gets a monthly cheque, and can’t write a cheque to get out of difficulties.

The easiest way to solve everything is that around 2003 all private sectors realised they could not afford final salary pensions. Most companies now at best Employers and Employees pay 5%.

They need to do this for the public sector. Instead of an NHS worker paying 6% and Enployer pays 22%.

If those are his actual words, then we have no working people left in this country. I can't remember the last time I saw a cheque.

These are the main two that Labour promised to raise tax revenues from but have since reneged on that promise after a few "farmers" drove tractors into London

I replied to the statement of not having many options, of which there's another that wasn't mentioned, political pledges aren't worth paper they're printed so I don't get why you're trying to make that a stumbling block.

They're not farmers!

I've seen so many tax dogging scams now, the reason labour 'went after the farmers' was because in reality half of them don't farm or provide food, most of them are just extremely wealthy land owners that keep livestock etc so they can class the estate as a farm and avoid the inheritance tax everyone else has to pay.

Of course labour had no spine when they came complaining that their kids wouldn't have that new maserati for their 18th birthday. Load of bolox, same old twats getting away with it. There will be riots in the future when the general public finally wake up and find out its them that are leaching all the resources and hording them, not the boat people after all.

Well ...with ever increasing numbers of illegal immigrants crossing the channel invading our once great nation ..it figures that those who have scrimped and scraped to save a bit for their retirement years to a level just over the limit to qualify for Pension Credit and all that goes with that ..will be taxed until the pips squeak to pay to house those illegal immigrants in hotel rooms and give them spending money .

What’s interesting is people have always got lots of ideas on what to spend money on, raise the tax threshold, the NHS, Education, pay rises, social housing, defence. Bring more migrants in, benefit increases etc etc, but when it comes to where the money comes from, the answers are few and far between. Tax the rich and erm….

A more efficient visa application scheme, safe routes, and effective appeals process would save money and be safer for migrants. A win-win.

But the anti-immigrant crowd aren’t ready for that discussion.
