"45 years ago since the Iranian militants held up 24 hostages at the London Iranian embassy. We’ve learnt nothing, keep these Islamic terrorists and spies out of this country. " 72 years ago the UK and US governments overthrew Iran's democratically elected government and installed a brutal regime under the Shar of Iran's control, over concerns about oil supplies. We've learnt nothing having repeated the same atrocities more recently in Iraq and Libya. Those of us who have had business dealings with Iranian's know that generally they are very polite, extremely well educated and peace loving. Whilst I don't condone any violence of any description, I do object to those who sit on their fat arses pontificating without understanding the facts.

"Read my post? What needs further explanation? When you fuck up an independent country don't complain if their folk decide to retaliate." This is a classic case of revisionist history. At the time the very real threat to democracy and the world order was communism. The Shah was supported by the West to prevent the spread of communism in the Middle East. Who knows if it was the right decision, but at least acknowledge the facts.

The same nonsense that cost the lives of tens of thousands of young men in Vietnam and achieved precisely nothing. The CIA has released their security papers on the overthrow of the Iranian government. It was about the supply of oil and nothing else. Read the facts not the AI generated alternative which has been produced to influence naive thinkers like yourself.

Read the facts not the AI generated alternative which has been produced to influence naive thinkers like yourself." . Agreed. It's Oil. Always has been and plenty wish to ensure it always will be for as long as possible. . It's actually quite easy to understand what drives world economics and nation states if you take a leaf out of Dune and call oil "Spice". . Whilst not in the book but rather in one of the movies, Baron Harkonnen said: He who controls the Spice controls the universe". . Oil makes some nations insanely rich and insanely powerful. Those who control it will exert great power. . Everything is about Oil. . I believe the policy is somewhat akin to : . Do we have natural oil ? If not, can we secure reliable supplies from an ally ? Are those supplies enough ? If not, where else can get oil from and do we like them ? If we don't, then how can we convince them for their oil ? . So long as the oil flows, that's all that matters. The rest is "window-dressing" and irrelevant.

It was no propaganda - state sponsored communism was spreading the world over, and it was right to take a stand. Vietnam fell, Malaysia didn't. Contrast their trajectories since.

So because you've had business dealings with some "decent" Iranians that makes it ok for others to spy?

"Those of us who have had business dealings with Iranian's know that generally they are very polite, extremely well educated and peace loving." Those of us who have had business and extensive social dealings with Persians/Iranians know that the overwhelming majority outside of Iran absolutely despise the current regime, its spies and actively support those who would tear that regime down, from inside and outside Iran.

The point is we are risking national security by allowing our borders to be illegally violated.

I agree with that but the regime and the anti-western sentiment of those in power came about because of the way the Shar of Iran had brutally ruled because the US and UK engineered a coup to overthrow the democratically elected Iranian government of the time

"Just a terrible act of self harm arresting these doctors and engineers. How will RNHS cope without them?" Very easily. There is no benefit to spending £50,000,000 every week accommodating migrants.

"Read my post? What needs further explanation? When you fuck up an independent country don't complain if their folk decide to retaliate." The facts are 3 Iranian men have entered the country as asylum seekers, by capitalising on our weakness to be able to police and vet the people who enter our country correctly. Those same people plotted to do significant harm. Iran International was their target, who have also had repeated threats from Iran. MI5 has also warned of credible threats against Iranian dissidents and journalists in Britain. It feels like you are excusing their behaviour for actions that happened over 70 years ago, that have nothing to do with Iranian state actions in this country today who are targeting a media outlet for not agreeing with its regime. You have also conveniently left out any reference to the way these criminals have exploited their entrance into the UK, and that is a significant fact in this story.

"The three Iranians accused of spying for Tehran have appeared in court and been identified as asylum seekers. My word, what a shock!!" No. Surely not? They snuck over with a load of other Middle Eastern men with no documentation, no passports and no ID and we just let them in to walk the streets? Will someone on the left please tell me the upside of this cos I’m really struggling to see it.

"And now they're (mostly) released. One way or another." This was the right thing to do, there is absolutely no way that they would leave the country in the way they entered it, I trust them. It is also nice to read that Iran has summoned the British envoy over the arrests, who would have thought a government would be so keen to protect citizens that fled the country for asylum.
