Under New York law, falsification of business records is a crime when the records are altered with an intent to defraud. To be charged as a felony, prosecutors must also show that the offender intended to "commit another crime" or "aid or conceal" another crime when falsifying records.

He's received an unconditional discharge for those offences. Even if he hadn't it seems extremely likely they would have come under the definition of a major crime.

People are only banned from entering the UK if they've been convicted of an offence with a prison sentence of 12 months or more.

Because he avoided one of those he'd get in.

Unfortunately.

We shouldn't be looking to ban any democratically elected leaders just because we don't like their politics. Our own Government has a responsibility to foster good relationships with all other countries as this is clearly in our national interests. In the case of the US there seems to be a real chance of a trade deal, and unlike Joe Biden Trump does actually seem to like our country.

from ukgov.

Entry can be refused if

within the 12 months prior to the date on which the application is decided, the applicant has been convicted of or admitted an offence for which they received a non-custodial sentenced or other out of court disposal that is recorded on their criminal record (under paragraph 320(18A)

We let in thousands of criminals every year and let them roam the country freely. Yet you want to ban someone that would have 24/7 police supervision?

Agree or disagree with his politics, he’s the president of the US. I don’t have a lot of time for the bloke, I think he’s an idiot who speaks without thinking and potentially dangerous, but out government still have to play ball with him

Trump has been invited by the King, and he will be here, unless Charles gets dragged into the row between the President and some lowlife liberal in Canada.

The question was should we, a rhetorical question, designed to elicit discussion.

The only reason he hasn't served time is because he is Donald Trump, and the courts wanted the case closed.

Plus at 4 years jail time for each offence equaled 136 years

He should be extradited back to Scotland, he's an illegal, dreamer multi generational immigrant in America. America isn't his mother land. Like he said just because you're born there doesn't mean you can stay there.

Giving Trump a state visit demeans the King, our institutions, and by extension every one of us. It's just embarrassing to host the idiot.

Says more about his skills as a manipulator of voters than it does about the benefits of democracy, unfortunately.

Eh? Here's a guy who's threatened to takeover a country, Canada, of which the King is Constitutional Head of State. The imbecile shouldn't be allowed into our country much less meet be feted by the King. Hopefully there will be noisy protests.

You don’t think the king is being dragged into it every time he basically calls Canada the 51st state… and basically states his ambition to destroy Canada economically for the advantage of the US

Okay them… hmmmmmm

I think the UK government should be a lot stronger in its wording of support for Canada and can do do so without thinking they are influencing an election

The monarchy has a long history of hosting dodgy dictators and African despots.

The US is one of the UK’s closest democratic allies and Trump was fairly elected.

No doubt the low IQ rent a mob will be out on the streets (that week it will be Trump, the next trans, the week after Gaza, then the next whatever the middle class poseur cause of the week is).

I guess the more valid question should be why Trump would waste his time visiting a failing European country with a government that demonstrates such contempt for basic freedoms for its citizens. Not a good look for him.
