Gen Z - Hope a lost reality or fake news

Gen Z and their contemporaries are being ever more frequently reported as having such challenging obstacles to overcome in life, their futures are fundamentally ‘uncertain’. The list of barriers includes remoteness of owning property, post pandemic legacies, influencing impacts of social media, political destabilisation across the globe and ‘in some cases’ arms-length parenting. Given the new dawn facing the younger generations of today, what intervention(s) and how can they be effectively and fairly implemented to restore hope for the generations of the future?

I think Gen Z have had it tough in many ways. In particular they're the first generation to deal with the Internet and Social Media as an almost inescapable part of their lives through smart phones. Unfortunately many of them have also embraced a lot of bad and failed ideas rather than more constructive solutions.

Generation This and Generation That are silly labels invented by "researchers" and "scientists" seeking media attention and the cash that comes with interviews and published articles.

Did ANY generation give a shit about the future? My three kids were born in the nineties, yes the eldest has started putting some money away for a private pension, DAD's finally got it through to her that a State Pension will bring nothing.

But the priority for all three is the same as previous generations of young people, namely having fun.

Oh, and they pay more attention to what they eat, unlike their elders' "Let's stuff a few more Full English down us and wash 'em down with Real Ale or cheap Italian wine left in a stainless steel tank for bubbles to appear" And then wonder why they need diabetes treatment and CPAP machines...

I'm sure each generation can talk of various challenges they have had to overcome. Most people won't have had fear of sirens sounding and bombs dropping unless they have fled war torn countries. We have few survivors of wwii who'd actually remember. Young children were evacuated, my dad included. But that in itself was a challenge to some.

And don't forget, childhood is a fairly recent evolution (not going down mines, up chimneys or receiving an education).

They will survive.

It's easier now, yet harder.

Do I wish I was I was in their shoes, no.

If they want it easy and handed to them on a plate they're not going to appreciate it .
