Honeymoon period is over. Starmer Reeves and Rayner have had their new clothes and holidays in Ali’s overseas pad. Economy not looking great, financial attacks on the oldies, skint and disabled. Businesses taking it in the arse from April.

I voted Labour at the last election. They have been in power less than a year so it’s not going to be a quick fix. I am surprised and disappointed that the winter fuel payment are stopping for some pensioners. It’s does seem a bit harsh going after claimants on benefits like PIP.There are things that they could have done on Universal Credit with regards to the housing element as not enough proper checks are been done on the landlords and also there are websites where a fake utility bill or council tax bill can be created to support a Universal Credit claim with regards to the housing element.Having said that the proper time to judge them will be from their 3rd year in power.

I didn't vote Labour as my own MP irritates me with her Palestine obsession - but I did hold out some hope for Labour as they still seemed better than the other options.

I'm not happy with them now though, and I don't think a lot of their MPs are genuinely happy either.

Tbh I wasn't really happy with Blair but voted for him to get the Tories out, the last government was a shit show so again I voted labour (did say last year on here I was unsure of what Starmer stood for)..

I think there's definitely a bit of amnesia in relation to the state of the country on the day before the election which funny enough didn't change overnight with a new government..

We have serious issues that need addressing and they won't happen in this term by any stretch and that's not to say they haven't made mistakes and that I agree with what they're doing..

Events dear boy events etc..

Still to early to judge..

What’s making the headlines and being ‘put right’ seems so meaningless.

The gains from welfare cuts £5bn, winter fuel grab £1.7bn, farmers iht £520m, £500m nhs job cuts, school fee vat £460m.

£8bn generated will not build 1.5 million homes, reform planning, cut bureaucracy, expand the military, reform the nhs, improving schools, blah blah. It’s all attention seeking sound bites ( like tories). £8bn is equivalent to £119.40 per capita per annum or £2.29 a week each.

The Coservative plan to borrow more to fund tax cuts for the rich was unsustainable, we cannot afford it.

Starmer has recognised the current social welfare budget is unaffordable, which is very difficult for a Labour government. At least now they are tackling it.

Apropos this forum, I do wish some of the Bots on here would have their hyperbole content turned down. It does not improve the debate to have baseless accusations of dishonesty and corruption constantly thrown at the Labour Government. If you have evidence take it to Court. Let us leave that to the Trumpist party lies in our former colony.

It doesn't matter what side of the house you sit on, they are all as bad as one another. No one in authority does anything for the good of the country but only what they can gain for themselves.

They all blame each another when not in power and raise the subject of what they have inherited. They're all a waste of space. We pay more and more tax and get less and less of a service.

I think this country has some amazing, talented people and yet we seem to have ended up with these bunch of fucking morons in charge.

I wouldn't trust them with the remote to my TV.

BUT saying that, I will always vote because democracy should never be taken for granted.

Why do you think they are morons (foolish or stupid)? What have they done to justify that perception?

Why do I think they morons and what have they done to justify that perception? I work in government and am exposed to their incompetence on an almost daily basis.

Rachel from accounts is just a starter....

But I can start the list if you want.

The welfare and benefits system

Immigration

NHS

Tax system

Crime and overcrowded prisons

Housing

Public finances

Reformation of local authorities

Inflation

That is a list of areas covered by Central Government that have suffered effectiveness issues for many years. Starmer's government have been in power since July last year. What have they done in that time that is demonstratively "stupid" and not just a matter of opinion?

To assist you I offer an example from the USA the Trump/Musk presidency sacked the people who monitored the safety of nuclear facilities and those trying to sort out the bird flu epidemic. They had to then try and reinstate them but then found they did not know how to contact them. That is, by any definition, an example of "Stupid".

So What did Starmer's Government do ghat was "Stupid"?

Are you aware at all of what has happened to the economy under this Labour government?

Unfortunately most Labour voters are economically illiterate in my experience. Probably because virtually all of them work in the public sector, where economic reality doesn’t matter, except at the point at which they start losing their jobs because the government has run out of money.

I've been impressed by their efficiency. Before the election I read stories of how they would send the economy backwards and a return to rubbish piling up in the streets within a couple of years. This lot have achieved that in well under one year.

I never called them stupid. I called them incompetent.

And the list wasn't definitive to Labour. Every party that has been in power over the last 15 years is to blame but it started with the coalition. Nick Clegg's values soon changed when he was offered a seat at the top table. Only in it for their own gain.....

I didn't vote Labour. I think they have done a bad job.

However, let's not get away from the fact, successive Governments (Blue, red and a bit of yellow) have all dropped the ball.

Sweeping reform is needed across the public sector (the blob) and the attached pension schemes.

The private sector need support, not damaging taxes.

The welfare budget needs sweeping cuts and root and branch changes.

This isn't a Labour issue. It's a politician issue.

If you take on the above. You will alienate a huge part of the voter base.

Which politician will be be brave enough to actually make the changes?

I can see the efforts being made by Labour, but too many misguided directions for my liking. The farmers issue has made it so that there'll be no labour votes ever again from anyone remotely connected to agriculture. The 2 tier legal decisions have turned many away from labour. Labour have this one term to turn things around as they won't be in again if they don't. Milliband is an embarrassment and council tax hikes are just one of many pre election promises that are ignored without consequence.
