If ever there was a day for a prime minister to quote love actually it was today, instead we just bend over and take the tariff attack unprepared whilst our neighbours stand up to the bully tactics of trump.

Looked at another way, Brexit has given the UK the freedom to act independently in the best interests of our country.

The prime minister hasn't been informed what steel is, it has gone straight over is head.

Sounds like he has been more advised to hold fire instead of an expected knee-jerk retaliatory measure.

I would personally see that tariff as a weapon or a tool we could use as leverage.

KS: "Hey Donald, thank you for that unexpected gift of tariffs on steel which has been placed upon us. Fortunately the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA) removed tariffs and quotas on goods that meet the rules of origin. The agreement came into force on May 1, 2021.

So you'll understand that that our export markets are going to seek more favourable returns with our closer EU allies."

"Unless of course, you might consider removing the tariff."

Essentially using his own weaponised tariff against him, for leverage elsewhere.

Retaliatory measure? I assume you know about tariffs? How do you consider the UK's lack of manufacturing is going to offer any sort of leverage.

Import - export

Another brexit bonus ? The freedom to look like utter cowardly pushovers, unable to stand up to a bully. What a win for us!
