BP is giving up all its investments in renewable energy and focusing again on oil and gas.

Are they out of touch, or is this another sign that net zero targets are out of step with reality ?

BP signs $25bn deal to redevelop Iraq’s oil and gasfields as it slashes investments in renewable energy (independents)

Will others follow

What does this say for net zero aspirations, Paris climate accord etc.

Net zero as currently conceived is dead in the water. It will soon be politically toxic.

Clean air isn't fashionable any more, and since climate change has been proven by the likes of trump to be not real the trend will fit the foreseeable future be away from such things..

Tbh if we can sort out the air so the number of deaths due to unclean air, estimated to be around 30,000 pa is reduced that'll allow the politicians to say progress is happening..
