"I cringe at the talk of him being such a deal maker He had schmucks pay debts off, who'd given too much leeway for failed businesses. He seemed to not pay suppliers, which is just being unscrupulous, not a good businessman " Bent surveys with over inflated floor space to obtain enhanced property valuations and larger loans. For his claimed six billion wealth he couldn’t raise the $557 million bond, got it reduced to $175 million and still someone else had to front it.

"Ukraine’s so called allies, USA, Europe and nato with vague suggestions of eu and nato membership. Delivering half the military aid late, still no aircraft and restrictions on long range missiles. Global embarrassment. Putin has played more than Trump. " It's tragic that we're somewhat advanced in our own estimations of our civilizations and yet Putin can so easily play and win

Global embarrassment. Putin has played more than Trump. Ukraine has received several F-16s and have been using them very effectively. "What a strange way to look at things, can someone who thinks Trump has been played by Putin, explain the how exactly? " How do you think it's going? Currently, Trump seems to have outlined red lines, that don't appear to be in Ukraine's favour. Putin's interests likely pandered to.

" ukraine are not in a position to demand anything in talks, you may not like it but they are losing, they can fight on and keep losing more and more men but its not going to change the fact they never were going to come out of this on top. Should of taken the deal that was offerd 3years ago and not listend to boris "honest" johnson and senile joe, as always in war in the losing position you really dont have much negotiating power

Not likely but actual, baring in mind Trump has no say in what Ukraine decide to do. He has made a decision from a US budgetary position, and he made that clear before he was elected.

" To put it into football terms. This game could go to extra time and penalties. At the moment the Trump team have just kicked off and passed back to the keeper. The forwards are in the centre circle jostling for position. Plenty of time and a lot of ups and downs to come.

"The great businessman who before negotiating even starts gives way and undersells the people whose state is at risk.. Art of the deal my arse " Agreed, however the only thing to shift Russia out of Ukraine is a full nato engagement and that’s never happening. They’ve spent three years pissing about debating about sending this and that while the slaughter continues.

"When a trained KGB operator meets a TV reality show celeb. Trump being manipulated like a lap dog. US/all politicians have advisors and analysts, no world leader makes uninformed decisions on their own" That worked out well for the uk and Brexit. Nine years on still squabbling and only five new trade deals.

"Europes had three years to sort this mess out, bowing to Putins hollow nuclear threats while Ukrainians losing their lives. As for the USA they ran away from the Taliban and now Ukraine it seems. Reap what you sow. " The pattern is always the same. Iraq. Afghanistan. Libya. Syria. Now Ukraine. Something kicks off somewhere. The US backed by its UK and EU lapdogs declares the problem to be an existential fight between good and evil, one party is “another Hitler”, if we don’t get involved World War Three will break out. Things get bogged down, it’s not as simple as in the movies. The US government and electorate gets bored and moves on. The UK and EU end up looking stupid. Just amazes me that anyone is surprised by what’s happening. Maybe they should stop watching the BBC.

Reap what you sow. " Yes but also on the subject of "reap what you sow" This whole shit show started in November 2013 with what was known as the "Maidan" revolution. Egged on by the EU (I can remember Guy Verhofstadt and the ridiculous Kathy Ashton rabble rousing in Kyiv promising all sorts of goodies including EU membership) the pro Russian Yanukovych was deposed and within weeks (surprise surprise) Moscow annexed the Crimea. That little series of events has been well and truly swept under the Brussels carpet. Yes, reap what you sow.

I would agree that he has showed up the weakness in western Europe but not sure about buying time. If anything he has wasted 3 years, sacrificed a million troops, lost incalculable amounts of equipment, caused NATO to expand (Sweden/Finland) and given the west a wake up call. When it comes to buying time he's worse than Man Utd at buying players.

"Trump is at the table as the weakest ever American leader. His country is debt ridden, inflation increasing, his tariff policy failing daily, his maga supporters turning upon him. His neighbours north and south putting up shutters against the US. Can he not see that Putin is in the strongest position, playing straight into the Putin rhetoric 'we've been fighting the west and NATO' Trump and his dimwits aren't going to sell Ukraine out by letting him keep the areas taken but practicality give Putin the whole of Ukraine. If Putin does not get what he demands what is Trump going to do about it? He has no card to play, if he gives Ukraine weapons then Putin will use it as legitimacy to attack the west. Trump is a weak and a global nobody these days. " I guess that’s why everyone is hanging on Trump’s every word. Including seemingly everyone in this forum given how much breath is being expended on him.
