Hi all..

I've got an idea to stop the labour scum rats nicking all the wages off us hard workers...

All stop working and sign on....

Cos working hard doesn't get us anywhere under labour as they think they can just keep cherry picking our wages and coming up with all these hair brain ideas..

You cant do or change everything in one go but they think they can just take our wages so we cant afford to live properly...

Building all these homes in our once beautiful green belts and flood plains without a thought of the local infrastructure...

Labour have always been untrustworthy and have proved again they cant be trusted...

If labour get through the next 6 months without public riots and more demonstrations like the farmers or someone losing the plot and attacking one of them it will be a miracle...

They are pushing people to braking strain limit and theres only so much people will take..

No doubt some muppets who are minted will say I'm wrong in my basic views..

But these are the facts...

I'm not minted by any stretch of the imagination, but I don't mind paying tax. It funds lots of things I use and things I might not use right now, but if I'm unlikely, might need in the future.

Pretty much this.

Tax pays for lots of services we all need and use, but also things like the Armed Forces which we hope never to need, but don't come cheap.

Choosing between Labour and the tories is like having to choose either Jimmy Saville or Rolf Harris to be the entertainment at your 9th birthday party.

I mean, no one is nicking the wages from anyone and I don’t see taxes as anything other than a certainty of life.

I find it a bit strange that the poor are the demonised in this situation and modern economic model, yet they’re the ones that are most affected and vulnerable. If you want to see who is actually responsible, it’s the hyper rich that control and influence the status quo.

Most people are just trying to not starve and afford a few basic needs, maybe have something nice every once in a while

Labour have been in power around 9 months. So all the houses being built on our green belt etc have nothing to do with labour and are still the legacy of the Tories policies. I myself lost around £11,00 pounds from my pension under the Tories when they voted the last stupid bitch into power and her first budget. So far I've lost nothing under labour. Not gained anything either. It's going to take at least a decade to undo the Tory shit fest .

I would have preferred tax rises to pay for the totally ravaged public services. I would like to pay more, as we can't expect to get even very substandard services at the current level.

Soooooooo. Without discussing political alliances or bias support just going to point out that the vast majority of poor working people’s highest expense is extortionate rent prices. This is because more people live in UK then the number if houses available. This means (based on economic supply and demand) the price goes up. Building more houses will increase supply and therefore make the housing and rental market more competitive and prices will drop. This makes the working man richer and the rich man (house owner renting it out) poorer 👍🏻…… Your argument literally makes zero sense

It's the minted people he's after. The funny thing is he is one too. That's the problem with Labour socialism it's self defeating. The people are just used as fodder.

A bull in a China shop. They smash the UK and wait for the people to build it up, then claim the rewards and credit off them for re-election.

Now we're hearing give people back the power to control their lives, errm they already had that. The thing that undermines it is the government.

But that is just it. People do pay tax and shit loads of it but get very little in return.

UK taxation is at it's highest level since WW2 yet still services are crumbling.

Meanwhile politicians spunk biblical sums of money on vanity projects.

Two useless missile targets, sorry aircraft carriers, when we need frigates. A daft new railway line costing untold billions to shave, at best, 20 minutes off London to Manchester.

They are just the big ticket items.

The untold billions squandered on government departments that no-one really needs and review boards (Quango's) designed for nothing more than kicking tricky subjects into the long grass (they don't come for free)

A health service with more managers and secretary's than doctors and nurses and a government that sets a target of "only" waiting 18 weeks for treatment.

At least the Tories, albeit belatedly, saw the problem and planned to reduce the civil service by 60,000, nowhere near enough but a start. Needless to say, Labour kicked that into the long grass on day one.

The balance between tax and spending has to be addressed but just more and more tax to fund ever bigger government and vanity projects has to end.

But I don't see this government even making a start.

To be fair it's not just a Tory/Labour thing.

The last Tory government was pretty useless. Even I as a lifelong Conservative will admit that.

However Labour are turning bad government into an art form. The one hope left is that Labour finally realise that tax/borrow/spend will only dig the hole deeper. I wouldn't bet on it though.

The only two UK parties ever to have been found guilty of racism in an internationally recognised court are BNP and Labour. In this respect they have more in common with each other than BNP and Reform. Food for thought.

Looks like Rachel Reeves CV story is still going. BBC show proof she did not spend the amount of time at the bank of England that she originally claimed. Apparently for quite a while she insisted she was at the BOE for 10 years and that was why she can be trusted with the economy. Turns out it was a little over half that amount of time. When finally amending the CV she still got the leaving date wrong by 9 months. Even her next job at HBOS she managed to get the leaving dates wrong. Apparently it's just an administration error and not her fault. However it is odd given she made several speeches where she said she had spent 10 years at the BOE. She must have known that was incorrect when saying it.

I mean, it all started mostly with thatcher, who began selling all your public utilities to (mostly foreign) private investors. Nothing makes me giggle more than when I see blind arguments, usually regurgitated from reform catch phases and soundbites with no context or understanding for their audience etc. That is for drilling north sea gas and oil or fracking because it will somehow make "us" all rich and give us stable energy with low bills. The only presumption you can take from when they say "us" is that they mean the citezens of the UK... Err no, no it wont! It will only make private owned firms/billionaires rich! Those private foreign firms who dont pay tax in the UK and also get tax subsidy from the UK for the benefit of drilling in it's oil fields. If it was a government owned company, British gas for example, which was privatised by Maggie, would see those profits go back into it's coffers, back into government/public funds and pay it's dues to Britain. Kind of like how saudi and the Chinese state owned oil firms put money back into developing their own country and make cheap energy available without someone profiteering.

You're paying high taxes in the UK as a result of a crippling national debt, that has continued to rise for 18 years. So statistically and factually this is not true and isn't through choices of labour policy alone, although like I said it began 45 years ago with said iron lady, everyone who has held office between then and now has continued to be complicit in allowing it to carry on like this, shafting the people further down, with the poorest being worst affected.

Her absolute hatred towards nationalism and the state, championing of private firms for their efficiency and effectiveness of running organisations better than government (tax payer funded) ones, doesn't half make me smile. Nothing more than the global banking crisis of 2008, when private firms were bailed out with none other than that inefficient state of government loans (tax money), none of which seen individuals jailed for their scandalous mismanagement and still has outstanding loans totalling billions of pounds, while people lose their homes and jobs, but the real icing is that they were still paying huge dividends and bonuses 🤦‍♂️

This doesn't mean I feel she's entirely to blame, she's largely, but just not entirely. If anything it's her pig ignorance to the major flaws in the neoliberalist ideologies that she so wanted to enact. The free market has no rules and her naivety to think that all the great capitalists who run everything now will play by some unwritten moral rules is absurd. I mean companies can pay their way and look after people, but there's no laws to it and they don't have to. It's just so triggering for many who had to listen to her obnoxiously calling out failing entities in society, for then to replace it with this brand new way that is even worse than it was before, is exponentially getting worse and will get much worse for years to come.

It's just so triggering for many who had to listen to her obnoxiously calling out failing entities in society, for then to replace it with this brand new way that is even worse than it was before, is exponentially getting worse and will get much worse for years to come."

You present a nice rewrite of history....

The idea that Thatcher single handedly caused today’s economic woes ignores the absolute state of the UK before she took office. The country was broken by union strikes, economic mismanagement, and work to rule, bloated state industries running at losses without providing an output. The UK was a laughing stock thanks to Labour.

Thatcher made tough decisions that stabilised the economy, which led to growth that Blair and Brown later inherited. Their reckless spending and continued financial deregulation without knowing what they were doing, as they admitted, set up the 2008 crash! We are still paying for this today.

Also, if state owned is the Labour answer, why did Labour never reverse privatisation?

Because it worked better than state owned

"Those private foreign firms who dont pay tax in the UK and also get tax subsidy from the UK for the benefit of drilling in it's oil fields."

Fossil fuel companies do not get any subsidies from the UK government. The opposite is true, as fossil fuel companies pay twice as much Corporation Tax.

I was led to believe it was the sub prime market in America that led to the 2008 financial crash. Now I find out it was the UK government. Every day is a school day.

Come on..

Everyone knows that Lehman brothers and Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac were set up by labour in 97..

Surely..

And the bailing out of our own financial institutions recognised as stopping a very likely collapse of the banking system was the idea of one L.Truss who ran the BOE and had the only key to the vaults ..

Huzzah..

The US subprime market may have been the trigger, but look under the covers and you will see how UK financial deregulation was a accelerated to high risk under Labour. Thatcher started it, Blair and Brown adored it, and by the time the crash came, they had lost all control of the banking regulations. The UK was deeply exposed because of their blind faith in the system, and a total lack of understanding around the impact, which was admitted by Brown.

After the 89/90 crash in uk house prices and recovery that picked up around 1993, it was then that the US subprime lenders; Money Store, Kensington (funded by nomura bank) and a few others who’s names I can’t remember introduced sub prime to the uk in the face of so many people with repossessions and adverse credit. In the years that followed most Uk prime lenders set up subsidiaries for their own sub prime brands, all under the then Blair / Brown governments. By 2006 40% of mortgage lending was sub prime. Uk lenders heavily exposed to sub prime like northern rock and Mortgage express collapsed without any help from the USA. The securitisation market moved so fast bond holders did not know what loans they had bought.

Well, they are in the process of destroying NHS waiting lists. 4 drops in a row. Most treatments ever carried out in December 24. Why is that? Yep, they ended the strikes.

A unilateral 9 billion pay award tends to have a ripple effect, after a country who paid to train them has been held to union ransom demands.

Lets see what the next couple of years brings, after all the BMA whatsapp messages immediately after the pay rise called for further strikes once the honeymoon period was over.

What a lovely bunch of people

Held to ransom demands? You don't think junior doctors are under paid? You don't think they deserved a decent rise after 14 years going backwards? You don't think they probably want more and probably should get it?

They got a settlement within that period due to striking. It's the nurses, as per usual, who got shafted.

They could have taken 11% in 2015, but they wouldn't negotiate a small change to terms, so yes held to ransom.
