Does anyone know how/if this will happen.

I moved into my flat in 2019 with a 99 year lease. I'm still a few years away from looking at renewing it but if measures are in place to make it easier and give flat owners more rights hopefully it will be a good thing.

I highly doubt it will ever happen. Parties will say they will address it but never get around to it.

There is too much vested interest. Those in power aren’t going to slaughter their own cash cow for the sake of us plebs.

As far as I know, leasehold reform was all about curbing the sneaky practices of builders selling houses on leases. I'm not aware of any proposed changes to flats.

What sort of extra rights do you think would be a good idea?

The latest update I’ve seen (30/01/25) says Labour intend to consult on the rates used to set lease extension prices in summer of this year. But say further primary legislation will be required before these can be implemented.
