"This is the new world order now. Want a country ? Buy it ! Everything's up for grabs ! If they don't comply, slap a tariff. Easy, according to Mr T. " It is also the old world order - a lot of countries have been bought. Most of America was purchased - California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico and Utah from the Mexicans, Alaska from the Russians, Louisiana from the French and Florida from the Spanish. The British sold Dunkirk to the French and bought Singapore from Johor. Scotland bought the Isle of Man and a lot of their islands from the Norwegians. The list goes on…

"Probably says more about our education system than anything else" This plus our apathy and the ease of how in general we are manipulated, divided into camps to squabble whilst those who benefit the most from the current democratic model.. Whatever the faults of the ones in power whatever the party likening them to actual dictators who murdered millions is a prime example of ignorance.. Anyone who has escaped actual dictatorial regime's will raise their eyes at this report..

"Maybe they should watch some of the programs that were shown yesterday. That is an excellent point." Absolutely agree too.. Danny Finkelstein summed it up on Newsnight when he spoke about his family and their tragic experiences with both Hitler and Stalin..

"Half of Generation Z (13 to 27 for us oldies) think Britain would be better off with a single powerful leader. Is this more youthful nonsense like pronouns and 43 genders or are the youngsters onto something? Has democracy had its days ? And who would be a good British Dictator? " Tom is that you?

"I think it was Churchill who described democracy as the "least worst form of government". He had a point because democracy is far from perfect and has plenty of faults. The main one being that it gives us politicians who rarely look further than the next election. Governments try to be all things to all men (and usually fail) oppositions bang the drum and try to make the smallest issue into a national tragedy. Probably the best example in the UK is the NHS. Everyone knows it needs serious reform but both party's are scared shitless of grasping the nettle. More concerned about who they will upset than actually improving the service. Tinker around the edges chuck a few bucketful's of money at it and hope the problem goes away. That seems to be the best either party can come up with. Neither Tory or Labour want to be accused by the other (and they will be) of "tearing apart the NHS". So on that issue democracy isn't working. Democracy also fosters tribalism in the electorate, nowhere more strongly than in the UK. I think more people vote to keep one party out than want the party they vote for in. Yeah I know. ![]() Excellent post as always!
