Towing a party line and lying for others would be very difficult.

Doesn't matter cant block distances

Definitely would and have actually considered it on many occasions.. I did so in highschool and in university. I believe in practicing what you preach and being what you're seeking.

No one from this site who has met others could possibly stand for elected office. Your reputation would get slaughtered lol

If I was younger, yes.

It would not be for any party in particular. It would be for a new party, call the Maslow Party.

I’d give it a go, I’ve got some ideas, I understand I’m never going to please everyone, and I wouldn’t try to. I’m pretty sure I could bring about some improvements though. But even then they’d only be seen as improvements by a section of society.

Rory Stewart has some good thoughts on being a politician.

How’s it’s impossible to be in a constituency, in Westminster and being a Minister all at the same time.

How Westminster is horrible place to work, no training, no HR, bullying etc.

I might have voted Tory for the first time if he’d been leader. He’s exceptional.

We may have a system that only elevates people with skeletons in their closets.

We could all have shining careers.

I’m no Tory, but he does come across as reasonable and likeable.

The reason I asked if that Leo asked me in another thread and apparently I was shit in hinting I might try and answer it in a different thread rather than a takeover…

Need to improve my subtlety skills!!

Anyway, without trying to give too much away, I have been asked if I would consider it…..which I suppose is flattering

I said I would not for many of the reasons said here, but I was also considering something else, which again I would love to talk about but I can’t!!

I am so bloody cryptic

Perhaps a greater level of cryptic smoke-screening is that you are sharing complex and, for a wider audience, significant personal aspirations in an echo chamber such as this!

Out of interest, if you was to stand as a politician, would you want to keep the FPTP or change to PR?

Let me put it this way, it wasn’t something I had ever considered before I was asked to consider it , I am way more “policy wonk” than I would ever be politician…….

I've always felt aligned to a large majority of your posts. You come across as sensible and reasonable, with great empathy and understanding. Rational and considerate. You speak from the head, but have a tempered heart.

Costa Blanca Spain...

I have actually done this.

Stood in local council elections but being a Conservative in the late '80's and early '90's wasn't easy.

I didn't do too badly though, when the Conservative vote was in freefall I actually increased the vote in my ward.

After that I was quite often used as a "paper candidate" in unwinnable wards.

Good fun at the time but I wouldn't do it now.

With an admission like that, you're also way too honest for a politician. Don't even think about it!

No way. I don’t want that kind of attention, don’t like the idea of being stalked. Seriously, I’d rather have no attention, like I get on here, than way too much, like I’d get if I stood as a political candidate.

No chance, once you join a political party, you have to follow their recommendations and not the people who voted you in.
