Mortgage fraudster Peter Mandelson appointed as US ambassador

A government source has told the BBC: “The fact the prime minister has chosen to make a political appointment and sent Lord Mandelson to Washington shows just how importantly we see our relationship with the Trump administration.

“We’re sending someone close to the prime minister with unrivalled political and policy experience, particularly on the crucial issue of trade. He’s the ideal candidate to represent the UK’s economic and security interests in the USA.”

In 1996 when Mandelson was a back bencher on a salary of £43,000 plus a £10,000 housing allowance he obfuscated existing loans from the Britannia building society when he bought a housing in Notting Hill. He managed to obtain mortgages of £600,000 through deception but was not prosecuted

Interesting dinner conversations with Trump who is also alleged to have misled banks with bogus property valuations to obtain loans.

Once European Union Commissioner for Trade (and good at his job, too), he's perhaps the ideal person to better our trading relationship with the US.

At Tehran, Churchill thought that between “the great Russian bear” and “the great American buffalo” sat “the poor little English donkey, who was the only one who knew the right way home”

Today we sit between the US and the EU.

Didn't he have to resign as Minister a second time due to more dodgy dealings?

Apparenty, if you believe the media, Mandelson and Trump have a lot in common, namely their close relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.

Which law did he break?

For the record I've always thought him a dodgy slippery fucker but I don't know if he was prosecuted..?

Domestic violence wasn’t it. Oh no that was the Reform MP.

Seems a good choice to me. An old head with steady hands. His experience will be much needed dealing with Presidents Trump and Musk.

Having to resign from the Cabinet for unscrupulous behaviour is unfortunate; having to resign a second time for the same reason could be considered carelessness.

What about, what about, what about Mike Amesbury, who is member of parliament, not a teenager.

So we criticise all or we criticise none. Sounds good to me.

I'm not aware of a charge of violence against Mandelson. You alone introduced violent offences into the thread. Although I cannot recall ever reading one of your posts expressing an opinion regarding sitting Labour MP Mike Amesbury.

Just an oversight on my part perhaps.

Obviously it is because I did criticise Amesbury at the time on the thread about him. Maybe you were on holiday.

There was definitely another thread where I said he was fooked unless there was more to the incident, because it included the fact someone had been convicted of stalking him.

The thread you’ve linked I was commenting on why he had only been charged with common assault.

I do vaguely remember talk of stalking so I'm inclined to agree with you, although I can't find another.
