In response to trade union industrial action.

I imagine we will be seeing the same thing very shortly as the glorious Net Zero transition kicks in.

Still at least we will be able to spend more time reading by candlelight, no doubt the government will be providing a list of approved reading alongside mandated foodstuffs to keep us all fit for the forever winter.

There will always be Assisted Dying if we can’t stand the compulsory joy any longer.

There's been a stream of rail companies brought in to national operations, including the Virgin one, operated with Stagecoach, when they took the franchise and didn't like their lack of profits, so chucked it in.

I don't think the public are fans of the highly fragmented system that the conservatives created and Labour had announced plans before the election. No surprises and partly a continuation of what's been going on anyway

Are trains viable transportation in this country, it seems they work very well in other parts of the world.

I can't say I use them that frequently now, I can't justify the cost of the service v risk of service failing to deliver.

I recently needed to be in Edinburgh, Train return £589 V Flight return £75.

Bringing them into public ownership will add what to the mix, more strikes and increased pay rises on demand?

I live in the East of England where Greater Anglia provide a great service, but have still been nationalised.

I can understand working a 4 day week as being an aspiration for most public sector workers, in another 50 years we could be aiming for 5.

Yes I’ve worked in the private sector all my life.

I’m sure people work all sorts of working hours, and get paid proportionately.

I'm not against nationalising the railways if it actually improves the service and doesn't cost the tax payer more than it does already.

I thought they were just going to wait for the contracts to expire then take over so they don't need to pay. Maybe the money is for improvements. According to the BBC report, fares will still go up as previously intended when they were private
