At age 16, she became pregnant, and left school without obtaining any qualifications. She later studied part-time at Stockport College, learning British Sign Language, and gaining a National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) Level 2 in social care. "We wouldn’t need such huge house building projects if we didn’t allow close to 1 million people into the country each year!! " I think many of those wouldn't be able to afford the cost of new housing! Issue we have in this country is too many people needing social housing but not having enough of it so I don't see how building 1.5m new homes helps to alleviate this. Private ownership has become out of reach for too many now. | |||

Very true And the previous Labour government had 13 years to reverse thatchers disasterous policies, and did sod all. Although the tories did build more social housing than Labour, who increased the number of private rented sector homes by 1.5million, a sixty percent increase from 97-2010 (2.5m to over 4m between 97-2010) | |||

Biodiversity net gain levy (effective Feb 2024) adds £1000 to a new home built on green belt Next year the building safety levy adds (I’m told £3K) to the cost of all new homes. Add the cost of social house building (50% of site) put on developers. This is why current new home starts are down 31%. | |||
