Starmer to pledge cuts to NHS waiting lists and crime amidst plunging approval ratings

Keir Starmer will pledge this week to undertake the most ambitious programme for government “in a generation”, as he sets out new targets to refocus his premiership amid falling approval ratings and the first resignation from his cabinet.

The Guardian reports “in a political gamble designed to draw a line under the bumpy opening months in office, it is understood that the prime minister will tie himself to a series of political milestones to cut NHS waiting lists and crime and improve living standards and early years education. They are designed to demonstrate tangible improvements to voters’ lives and be delivered by the next election.”

Starmer’s first net approval rating as prime minister – the difference between those who think he is performing well or badly – stood at +19%. He now has a net approval of -32%. It includes a drop of 8 points in the past fortnight.

Also silence on the promised 1.5 million new homes and stopping small boats.

Looks like he’s aware it not going to plan

Having a relaunch a few months into a new Govt seems rather desperate and concerning. Also sounds like a lot of promises to spend more money with rather less detail on how this will be generated. No doubt our 'best health service in the world' will get a few more billion to help it along.

The Telegraph reports that in polling Trump is more popular in the UK than Starmer.

Maybe when he has finished his final Term in the US we can bring Trump over here to sort things out. We will probably need someone with a radical agenda and some guts after four more years of Labour failure.

To improve living standards in the UK he would need to remove the increased taxation on businesses so they can continue to invest and employ people plus keep prices down which combats inflation....and that ain't going to happen.

Sadly Starmer and his version of Labour Government has done the damage even he pulled off all the pledges he won't win the people over, after all improvements are to be expected as part of the job not damage and then improve and say look what I've achieved. A few Labour councils did some damage while the Tories were in power.

Starmer thinks he's a business man, he's far from it.

This could keep inflation down if energy and fule prices drop, but don't know how quick this will.be done.

Other people advocating for violence and war because they don't like the PM. Is a worrying state of affairs.
