Either I've misheard the story on sky or our government, on the back of tax rises galore, has committed to £500m of funding for foreign farmers. Please tell me I'm mistaken

You are not mistaken

A lot of that is because the local governments know that if we withdraw that money they can accuse us of starving them and we’ll give more

"The late Queens funeral cost an estimated £162 million..

Should her estate coughed up?"

40% IHT would have covered it, or even the reduced 20% the farmers are being told to pay.

I wouldn't disagree but it's unlikely to happen, far too socialist an idea to ever be accepted..

Fund foreign farmers, while fleecing our own! One thing that's not been publicised enough since the budget is how many businesses are dependent on a thriving farming community spending and investing in their farms.. machinery dealers, builders , farm suppliers, the list is endless...

Closing a tax loophole for the wealthy is hardly fleecing.

Why is asking relatively wealthy people to pay some tax.... And not even as much as every one else has to.... The politics of envy?

Farmers could get a second income from employment as politicians, they are all skilled bull shi--ers as well.

I'm intrigued to note that the outlay of £500m to foreign farmers seems to be exactly the amount of savings achieved by the defence cuts.

The public is not on the side of the farmers, despite what the daily mail says. It isn't 1600 any more and farmers can be treated exactly the same as the rest of us.

Unless his own back benchers side with opposition party’s and parliament passes a vote of no confidence, which can happen any time during the five year period.

Make that 115001 who don’t know how uk democracy works.

There is no law or requirement for a government to resign in such circumstances. A convention, perhaps. Make that a 115002 who don't understand democracy, with an additional award for attempting to be a smart arse.
