"Can remember doing a paper round in about 8 inches of snow, roads were clear then going to school Was it around 84, or 85? I went to work on Tuesday, yet they shut schools, most likely due to heating costs, then blame health + safety. Yet if you don't send your brat to school they will fine you. Do as I say, not what I do springs to mind." Health and safety and risk assessment etc etc. The threat of parents suing is huge. And not just a threat. Parents do it. Any excuse

"They never did this when I was younger.I was expected to go in every single day of winter.Even if I did slide off the pavement Have we become soft or is this a wise decision? " It is pathetic. Closing schools has a huge economic impact as parents of younger children usually have to stay home to look after the kids. This isn’t taken into account when the decision is made to close schools.
